The Met Ball 2026

I’m not sure if there’s another thread on this.
Anyone up for a chat on the celebrities and their style choice ?
I thought Nicole Kidman looked amazing.
I know she’s had work done and it’s probably a wig but she looked fab.
What was Katy Perry’s point re the mask ???
Kris Jenner too looked great.
I used to think it was all daft but had the realisation that the Met Ball was always linking fashion with art.
A bit slow on the uptake, me. !

I think Audrey Nuna was my outfit of the event - the way it sparkled in movement, and her make-up; just wonderful.

And it was a delight to see Venus Williams looking epic. (Particularly after the inexplicable dowdiness of her outfit last year.)

Perhaps the theme this year was a little vague, compared to last year, but there were very few duds.

I'm with you on Audrey Nuna

My standouts were Emma Chamberlain, Ejae, Gracie Abrams. Really beautiful dresses.

and Madonna just for the pure performance and hitting the brief of it.

And out of the men, loved Sam Smith and Luke Evans.

I thought it was the most disappointing Met Gala in terms of looks in many years. Emma Chamberlain was my favourite though.

Don't let Sam Smith hear you calling them a man!

DIL voted Emma Chamberlain. Reading the Vogue article, they followed the brief.

I loved these! And did actually quite like Kendall Jenners.

As above Chase looked amazing, it was my favourite

They don’t choose the outfits. They have stylists who are offered loans of clothes by designers. The celebrities wear what they are given - or are paid to wear. I read that they all change when they are inside. They can’t sit and eat a dinner in those clothes.

Anna looked amazing even though it was very similar to an outfit from a few years ago. Nicole Kidman also looked great if somewhat off theme. Lauren… well she looked like she always looks. She also looked a bit nervous.

Eva Chen who works for instagram looked great. Blake Lively looked fab.

I thought Kendall Jenner’s was boring on the red carpet, but when she did photos inside they’d added really big beautiful wings to it. Maybe she couldn’t carry them down the carpet so they had to have them separate.

I thought Cara Delevigne’s was nice from the front but there’s one picture (below) of the train looking beautiful.

I agree about Lauren Sanchez looking like she always does. I know she apparently referenced a famous painting, which may be so, but she referenced a painting of a woman wearing a boring dress just like Lauren would normally wear. It was a dress you could see anywhere, even at something like a prom. She was styled by Zendaya’s stylist, and Zendaya always looks amazing and wears such interesting stuff!

Who hosts this and who gets invited? They seem a bit of a motley crew.

Lauren Sanchez always looks awful. I guess she dresses to please Jeff Bezos so style and class go out the window.

Kate Moss looked good and Margot Robbie very elegant.

I only saw part of it, but I loved Heidi Klum's Veiled Vestal marble statue look, it was so out there!

Emma Chamberlin's dress was gorgeous.

I agree that Margot Robbie was elegant. But I thought it wasn’t really on theme. I feel like basically all of her outfits from the wuthering heights press tour were more interesting and dramatic and “fashion is art” than her dress last night.

Margot is an odd one as she has the face of a model but clothes seem to wear her. I thought her Met dress was blah

Loved Emma Chamberlain and Cara Delevigne’s dresses.
Cher was very understated considering the occasion, but love her.
I enjoyed Madonna and Stevie Nicks.
Unusually for me, I enjoyed all the Kardashians and Jenners.
I watched it live on Vogue’s YouTube and it looked to me as though many people were uncomfortable. Navigating that wall of shouty photographers all the way up a steep staircase in a heavy, priceless gown and heels must be a real test of nerve!

Emily Blunt and Kate Moss both looked fantastic too.
