To be surprised my Dsis doesn't know about the wipe fold wipe method?

My DParents were frugal; War babies both, they always lived to save resources and money.

They taught me the wipe fold over and then wipe again method to save (granted a small amount) of loo roll.

Last week we were reminiscing about their asceticism and I mentioned this and how I still adhered to this (even more so in the heady days of Covid).

She denied all knowledge of the system!

I remember many years ago (like 15+ years ago), the Japanese government advised its populace to wipe, fold and wipe toilet roll to help the environment.

Is this about toilet roll?

I only do this if Im somewhere where I have to reach for the toilet roll and I cant be bothered as its a faff.

Surely everyone just does whatever. Sometimes fold maybe sometimes Pom Pom.
Depends how much wiping it’s taking will I block the toilet 🤣 Curtesy mid wipe flush and what not.

Is your sister a hand wrapper? I guess most of us learn how to wipe from our parents but if a folder and a wrapper have children together what path will the children follow? (I have never asked my siblings. Nor checked if my now adult DC still do as I taught them.)=

Because she does not remember? Maybe she has more important evolved memories of your shared childhood . For what it's worth my father had a fear of public toilets and told me and my sister to always hover over the seat .

I have never heard of it. I am a scruncher, and I use loads. Growing up, we were only allowed to use 2 squares at a time.

I'm mostly I'm a folder though will adapt to the, you know, circumstances. I don't recall being taught, I think it just feels wasteful to do otherwise. The pom pom technique does sound fun though 😂

The title made me think this was about cleaning kitchen surfaces. If you fold and refold and flip correctly, you can get EIGHT fresh surfaces out of one cloth before you have to run it under a tap

Yes I also thought this was about wiping surfaces because my OH cant do this, he doesnt understand how to wipe something, he literally smears it rather than wiping it off.

I’m learning from this thread that some people don’t wipe and fold. I’m not sure I was ever taught it. Just seems like the sensible way to use it

I’ve never shared a house with a man who understood that the cloth needs to be damp rather than wet. It’s pretty annoying
