I have had to cut down my granola habit to once a week so what I lack want to make up for with quality. What is your fav?

Best so far is the Ottoleghi one DS got me for Xmas which I have reordered despite being ruinously expensive 😬

What are the best ones you have tried?

Marks and Spencer. Scores high on the Yuka app

It's very easy to make your own and then you can put what you want in it!

Lidl Almond and Cranberry.

I have two types of granola, nutty and fruity. I have two tubs with the hinged hatch at the top, and buy nice sounding granolas to mix up in the tubs. The Fuel ones are nice, salted caramel and almond one was mixed into the nutty and white choc and raspberry added to the fruity. The original base of the fruity one was Bio & Me's super berry which is harder to find in the shops atm, I've had to get some from Amazon.

I also buy mixed nuts and freeze-dried fruit to add to them for a little extra fillip. It's very difficult to ensure my bowl isn't going past the load level, I have both counted out the spoonfuls I put in or weighed it as it was dispensed, as I tend to get carried away... Blush

@Namechangedasouting987 @whippersnapper55
Do you have a good recipe?

CharnwoodFire · 19/06/2026 07:00

@ShodAndShadySenators where do you buy freeze-dried fruit from?

olivietolivie · 19/06/2026 07:00

I like the Bio and Me granola because it has a wide variety of plants and I also add a little bit of four seed mix too. Or I make my own. Joe wicks has a recipe on his app for granola which has coconut flakes in it and it is so easy to make and absolutely delicious.

The M&S nut and raisin one is lush. I’ve stopped eating granola, though, as I have no off switch with it, and it’s basically broken up flapjack re-marketed as being super healthy (which most of them definitely aren’t).

Edited for typo caused by granola-engorged fingers.

Mydogisagentleman · 19/06/2026 07:15

DH is a granola connoisseur.
In England he makes his own.
In Spain he has discovered ikea brand and I drove 30 minutes and got 10 boxes yesterday.

Givemeausernamepls · 19/06/2026 07:20

Lidl low sugar granola is also a high scorer on Yuka app.

FuzzyPuffling · 19/06/2026 07:20

Aldi nut one.

I’ve used various recipes and they’re all great - you tend to use the recipe as a starting point and then amend to have more or less of the things you like best. There are a few top tips though

  • it’s v easy but you need to watch it like a hawk. You toast the ingredients in the oven and they can go from perfectly golden to burnt in a flash
  • add the dried fruit afterwards. Toast the nuts, seeds and oat flakes but just stir the fruit through at the end - the heat of the oven can make the fruit too tough if you cook it all together
  • I personally also add in the pumpkin seeds at the end as I prefer these untoasted but that’s the joy of making it yourself
  • it’s so much cheaper than bought granola - def splash out on the fanciest jumbo oats to use
measuretwicecutonce · 19/06/2026 07:28

I make my own and always at least half any honey/maple syrup. I don’t like dried fruit in granola so add lots of nuts and seeds. I sometimes also add sourdough starter to it.

I often use this bbc one without the dried fruit:

Start your day with homemade granola for breakfast, full of nuts, seeds, oats and dried fruit. Enjoy with milk or yogurt, and fresh seasonal fruit

Isn't the treat of granola the fact that you open the box and there it is? Yum yum!

Making it yourself, although very worthy, spoils that completely.

JulesJules · 19/06/2026 07:30

I make this granola for my Dad for Xmas, birthday and Fathers Day, he loves it. The ingredients are expensive, but it makes loads.

Agree. Its the best. (Though probs not the best simultaneously 😬)

momager22 · 19/06/2026 08:03

Why have you cut down? Have you tried making your own?
oats, olive oil or melted good quality butter, honey, loads of nuts, seeds and whatever dried fruits you fancy . Much better for you and you can control the fats/ sugars.

muddyford · 19/06/2026 08:04

Jordans.
