Puerto Pollensa, Majorca. Lovely beach and a Pine Walk on the prom. Lots of nice restaurants to try. We stayed at the Puerto Azul. Great for little ones.

We've been holidaying there for many years and usually stay at the Puerto Azul. Mainly due to the location, the staff and that it used be apartments, so the rooms have a separate living area with sofa beds and a separate bedroom, so there's plenty of space. It's a five minute walk to the beach and the main square.

Our verdict

Mumsnet users absolutely love the peaceful, sandy beaches of Puerto Pollensa on the Northern coast of Mallorca, and if you’re looking to pair that setting with a modern, family-friendly base, the Puerto Azul Suite Hotel is hard to beat.

Frequently recommended on the Mumsnet boards, the hotel offers a great mix of style and practicality. There’s a large outdoor pool, thoughtfully split into three sections for younger children, beginners and more confident swimmers, as well as a kids’ club and playground. The buffet-style dining comes highly recommended by reviewers, as does the quality of service.

Just a short walk to Puerto Pollensa’s main beach as well as the town square, the hotel is an excellent all-rounder choice of accommodation that combines location, convenience and a slightly more polished feel.

TUI Blue Sensatori Biomar

Pros
  • Premium feel with excellent service

  • Brilliant kids’ clubs and entertainment options

  • Close to a sandy, family-friendly beach

Cons
  • Pricier option

  • Might feel a bit too formal for some

Key specs

Best for: Familiers looking for a more luxurious all-inclusive resort | Pools: 6 - Family & splash pool, adult pool, activity pool, hydrothermal circuit spa pool, kids’ pool, indoor pool | Kids’ club: Yes, several to include ages 0 to 17 | Distance from airport: Approx: 1.5 hours

We stayed in a swim up with our 3 year old dd and 4 month old DS last July. It was at the Sensatori Biomar in Majorca and it was a GODSEND. When little one needed a nap we could just nip out to the room and I could sit in the room with him whilst my husband played in the pool with dd. The balcony had a safety gate so kids couldn't get in or out without help and it didn't feel any more unsafe than a ground floor room. The balcony doors locked like normal.

We’re off to the Tui Sensatori Biomar in Sa Coma again this year. We went last year with the two kids (5. & 9) and we had such a lovely time we’re happy to do it all again! Great hotel, with adults-only areas, a lovely swim-up bar in the main pool, kids clubs, delicious food and drink. But shhhh…..don’t tell everyone!!!

Our verdict

If you’re looking for a luxurious, all-out family holiday, the relaxed, pristine sandy beaches and turquoise waters of Sa Coma delivers just that - and the TUI Blue Sensatori Biomar more than matches it.

Everything is designed to run smoothly here, from the well-reviewed restaurants to the extensive kids clubs (covering everyone from babies to older teens), making it the ultimate stress-free family holiday environment.

There are two buffet restaurants and four a la carte dining options to choose from as well as eight bars and an impressive choice of six pools, including a luxurious hydrothermal spa pool. The sandy beaches of Sa Coma are just 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel, or if you fancy venturing further afield, nearby Cala Millor offers plenty of shops, restaurants and seafront strolls.

We loved the Hoposa Villaconcha in Puerto Pollenca, elegant hotel, quality feel to everything, lovely pools including a lane swimming one where they set up a WIBIT twice a day. Kids pools including little slides. Spa you can book and almost have to yourself. Beautiful beach about 4 mins away and the town is just gorgeous, so many lovely restaurants and the famous Pine Walk. Very relaxing break with children.

Puerto Pollensa is my favourite for families. Stayed at Hoposa Villaconcha. Was great location- just off the main street so nice and quiet at night (apart from the hotel entertainment which wasn’t too noisy). It has good pools with an inflatable course, easy location to walk to beach (5 mins).

Our verdict

Another vote for the popular Puerto Pollensa area, VillaConcha stands out for its impressive offering of sporting activities, from swimming to cycling, tennis, windsurfing, golf, waterskiing and even horse riding!

It doesn’t have quite the same level of all-day entertainment as some larger resorts, but that’s part of its appeal as it makes for a more relaxed atmosphere, with a focus on flexibility and going at your own pace.

With three luxurious pools, spacious grounds and the beach just a short walk away, it strikes a great balance between activity and downtime.

We stayed at the Inturotel Sa Marina in Cala D'Or in Majorca a couple of times. It's not a huge hotel but it's very clean, the food is good and the staff are lovely. They get an awful lot of repeat customers so are obviously doing something right.

Our verdict

Another favourite location among Mallorca-loving Mumsnetters, Cala d’Or is a former fishing village turned stylish, family-friendly resort on the island’s southeast coast.

Just 300m from the resort centre and 500m from the Cala Gran and Cala d’Or beaches, the Inturotel Sa Marina is a popular choice of hotel for those who want everything - shops, restaurants, sandy beaches galore - right on their doorstep. The hotel itself has a friendly, family-orientated atmosphere with a well-run kids’ club and several pools to keep everyone entertained.

With its buzzy, fun vibe, excellent customer service and palm-tree studded lagoon pools, it’s a great choice for those who want both chilled downtime and a bit of liveliness on holiday.

We absolutely love Cala D’or in Majorca. Very family friendly, the beach is great and safe for paddling and the marina has some gorgeous restaurants & bars … Can’t recommend it enough.

Mar Hotels Playa Mar & Spa

It's the best place I've been for young families. We've stayed at the Playa Mar a couple of times. It's a bit further out than some of the other hotels but it's great for young kids. We enjoyed the pine walk to the beach (about 15 mins if you're going slow) but mainly stayed in the hotel because it's so good.

Our verdict

Another entry for the Mumsnet-favourite resort of Puerto Pollensa, the Playa Mar & Spa is a great choice if you’re after a more relaxing break with plenty to do on-site.

The apartment-style set up offers families plenty of space to spread out (always a good thing when you’re travelling with small chidren!) and the on-site splash park, pools and spa mean there’s plenty to keep everyone entertained without needing to venture far.

The hotel isn’t right on the beach, but it’s within reach of the promenade and Pine Walk, a Mallorca-famous scenic pedestrian route known for its mature pine trees and sandy beach inlets. Overall, it’s a great choice for families looking for a peaceful balance of calm and convenience.

Puerto Pollensa [is] a lovely resort, all families or couples. Everything closes at 12. So no drunk yobs shouting and screaming in the streets. We've been three times.

Alcudia Pins Tui Blue - we had a 2 bed apartment but AI though didn't use the sofa bed in the lounge. Right on a gorgeous beach, excellent and somehow only a 3+ star though Tui now say 4 star.

Our verdict

If your holiday dreams involve wide stretches of white, sandy beaches and the gentle lap of shallow, turquoise waters, it’s hard to beat this TUI Blue resort set right on the shores of Playa de Muro. The gentle, calm waters are ideal for little ones, and the resort itself offers plenty to fall back on including kids’ pools, soft play and a playground.

Kids aged all the way from babies to older teens are well catered for here with the inclusive kids’ club, giving parents the freedom to enjoy the spa, head off for a guided local walk or simply sit and enjoy the holiday dream. An ideal choice for families wanting sun, sea and simplicity.

We have just come back and had the most amazing time at Tui Grupotel Majorca Mar in Sa Coma. The accommodation was some of the best I've stayed in, grounds well kept, entertainment excellent, food excellent, directly on the coast. Only downside was transfer from airport (would advise a private transfer as it took nearly 2 hours for a 50 minute journey)

Our verdict

Set in the laid-back resort of Cala Bona on Mallorca’s east coast, the TUI Blue Grupotel Mallorca Mar is a great option for space, diverse activities and epic coastal views.

Surrounded by lush palm tress and open green spaces, there’s plenty of space for kids to run around - when they’re not busy with the epic splash park or plethora of kid-friendly activities, that is!

With plenty of day and night entertainment for the whole family on offer, including multi-sensory BLUETots sessions, fitness classes, swimming lessons, live shows, music and appearances from TUI’s friendly resident robot, 2E-3000, there’s no end of things to do on-site. Alternatively, the hotel is just a short walk from the charming, traditional Spanish town of Cala Bona as well as its sandy coves which offer a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle.

We stayed at the Tui Holiday Village in Cala Millor, Majorca, this year. Good hotel, great for families. 5/10 minutes from the main town/beach by shuttle bus or taxi. We didn’t venture out but I’m told there are nice bars/restaurants there.

Our verdict

If your top priority for a family holiday is fun-filled activities and entertainment from morning to night, this Holiday Village resort in Cala Millor certainly delivers. From splash parks to stage shows and kids’ clubs packed full of activities from archery to an aerial adventure course and evening star-gazing sessions, there’s something for every age and energy level.

The location adds to the appeal, too. Cala Millor is one of Mallorca’s livelier resorts, with a long seafront promenade perfect for evening strolls (or roller skating!) plus plenty of restaurants, shops and beach bars lining the coast.

This is definitely one of the more high-energy options on our list, which for many families is exactly the point of a great holiday. With everything in one place and all-inclusive dining taken care of, it’s a fun, low-hassle choice where boredom simply isn’t on the agenda.
