I am thinking of trying Match Betting my self. I don't want to spend all my time doing survey sites for a pittance.

None. I really couldn't be arsed.

lollydu · 23/02/2024 18:36

Matched betting is good for a while, I made about 4k, but it gets difficult once you start getting restricted by all the bookies and it kind of dries up but if you are wanting to save for something in particular it's great but don't expect it to last!

dawngreen · 23/02/2024 19:04

Roughly what did you spend to get 4k that's a cool amount@lollydu ?

I write product reviews. I don't get paid for writing them but do get to keep the products which I can sell on after a certain time period. I'm not the best at keeping on top of the reselling side but can make a few hundred quid a month from it if I make a bit of effort.

Rockshore · 23/02/2024 19:14

Watching with interest - I’ve given up on the survey sites after being bombarded with surveys but never getting enough points to actually earn anything.

whiteroseredrose · 23/02/2024 19:16

My colleague does spray tans, pay in advance and seems to be earning well.

How do you get into that @rrllrsk8 ?

lollydu · 23/02/2024 19:25

You only need about £50 to start with and the money builds up slowly so you just watch it build up in your exchange accounts. And you just use the money that builds up to place more back and lay bets so you never really need to use your own cash apart from that first amount. Outplayed are a good website to investigate if you want to look into it properly they have tutorial videos and stuff c

I do overtime for my job, but I appreciate that's not really a side hustle.

I sometimes look at surveys etc., but that seems to have a relatively low return relative to the amount of time it must take.

I always feel like I want a side hustle 😄.

Andthedishranawaywiththespoon · 23/02/2024 19:36

I do a second job cleaning offices 4am -6am Mon- Fri. As well as working FT for nhs (office based) the week. I'm also considering an eve cleaning job for a few months to clear debt

GeneCity · 23/02/2024 19:39

Wow, @Andthedishranawaywiththespoon, you're putting the hours in!

Geoff0409 · 23/02/2024 19:57

@dawngreen my wife has done surveys for a few years now. They pay into PayPal and she uses the money for some small bills and buying school uniform etc. They don't pay great but it all helps. Occasionally she gets sent products to test which we all like, especially if it's soft drinks, cereals or crisps etc. She also gets ones on TV adverts - one of the supermarkets we've already seen their Euro 2024 advert and often we see the Christmas adverts months and months in advance and they ask your opinion on which one is best.
As for betting, I used to work at a bookmakers head office and yes they gradually freeze out anyone they deem as being an unprofitable customer.

Teach group fitness classes. Keeps me fit and they pay me, win-win really.

dawngreen · 23/02/2024 20:17

I belong to a few product testing sites. We get free items but most do not let you sell the items/ and some ppl get kicked for it.

I grow salads & veg in the summer, for our own use, which saves me about £20 per week.

I also make jams (damson, greengage, rhubarb & ginger, bramble jelly) and bottle berries in syrup, and pack toasted hazelnuts in honey. I sell them at several village fetes.

Most the ingredients grow wild in the hedgerows around here and I get the jars free, so I only pay for the sugar and some electricity.

I can usually make £500-£600 from a few afternoon's work. I enjoy it and have some regular customers.

dawngreen · 23/02/2024 20:22

I joined tester-up playing games to a level. But you need id verification or you lose your money. Surveys seem to be little amounts for a lot of data and time. And like some say you get to the end , and its timed out.

@Meadowfinch I like the sound of this. Good luck to you.

For people interested in product testing - Theinsiders.net , and Tryit.com are good.

My end goal is to have enough to pay some debt, and to buy a small piece of land for about 1-2k. I checked and its possible to buy at that price. I am thinking of holding table top sales each month. I know they will be other costs involved with that idea.

OP posts:
GeneCity · 23/02/2024 20:49

What will you do with the land @dawngreen?

How did you get involved in this? I have seen someone on Amazon do this?

OnTheDrive · 23/02/2024 22:14

@rllrsk8 would love to know more about this if possible?

Hipnotised · 23/02/2024 22:18

Writing - copy for websites, mainly.

There are always people looking for this service, it just depends whether your sector experience is relevant to their requirements.
