Hi
My bmi is 37. I am a massive comfort eater. Im considering starting weight loss jabs.
Has anyone regretted starting them? Why?

God no, they’re the best thing ever invented in my opinion.

I’ve lost 4 stones with one more to go and I intend staying on them forever as they do far more for me than just help with weight loss.

I’ve never felt as good as I do now in my 60’s!

kiwiane · 04/06/2026 14:38

No it’s been life changing

LoSlo3toGo · 04/06/2026 14:41

No - I’m 2 weeks in and regret not starting earlier

Ineedanewsofa · 04/06/2026 14:46

My only regret is not starting sooner, 30kg gone and an entire new lease of life.
I only know of one person who has had serious side effects and even she doesn’t regret it (she has an ED and bought it from a salon, ended up needing her gall bladder removing).

Frieda86 · 04/06/2026 14:51

Thank you for the replies. How long until you started noticing differences?

Absolutely no regrets, what a powerful tool to help lose excess weight and feel& look healthier. A life changer. What a time to be alive 😁

WeAllHaveWings · 04/06/2026 14:56

Wish they had been around 20 years ago.

Response, expectations and results vary greatly - I was a fast responder and noticed effects the day after my first injection and completed my weightloss on lower doses, others don’t notice any effects for months until they move up to higher doses.

With 4 million people in uk on them, there will be people who have had the serious side effects or did not respond and regret the expense, but they are unlikely to still be posting on the board to tell you their experience.

Far quicker than had I never started using them!

PermanentTemporary · 04/06/2026 14:58

Life changing for me.

Changes about a month in. Have been taking them about 2.5 years.

Ineedanewsofa · 04/06/2026 14:59

I’m one of the lucky ones who responded quickly to a low dose which surprised me as literally nothing else had ever worked!
I noticed by week 3 that my joint and nerve problems and pain had pretty much gone and I’d only lost a couple of kgs at that point.
I said then that I didn’t care if I lost any weight, I’d stay on it for life if it kept me pain free.
Suppression wise I had a strong response for the 72 hours post jab but then had to use increasing amounts of willpower until the next jab - I wanted it this way though to help me learn good habits and set me up for maybe not being on it for life.

ShrankLastWinter · 04/06/2026 15:15

Oh heavens no, they are one of the best things that has ever happened to me!

Differences in appetite and satiety were immediate. Inflammation was down within a couple of weeks. Some clothes were too big after a month.

30kg were gone after 31 weeks. Now after 1.5 years I’m 35 kg down, healthy BMI and fit as a flea!

Saturnista · 04/06/2026 15:22

I’ve had bad side effects and a relatively slow weight loss - 18 lbs in 18 weeks - but do not regret it for a second. It’s the only way I’ve been able to shift weight in my 50’s and I’ve been able to drop some of my meds too.

scoopsahoooy · 04/06/2026 15:28

Nope. And I developed gallstones (and had surgery)*. It was still 100% worth it.

*I know gallstones not necessarily directly because of the jab - can happen with any weight loss. But feels relevant to mention!

Stuckoncrossroads · 04/06/2026 15:30

I noticed the appetite suppression instantly, but still needed discipline and will power to lose weight steadily ( some say weight was just “coming off”, many lose a lot in the first months), I was steadily losing 4kg/month in the first 6 months, with increasing doses and not effortlessly. Mounjaro affects my mood, but still worth it, no other side effects. (Wegovy caused me acute severe depression so switched ..). Good luck, I wouldn’t overthink it if there are no contraindications and you can afford the high Trump prices.

Icanthinkformyselfthanks · 04/06/2026 15:36

@Frieda86 , nope! Absolutely, unequivocally, 100% one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 04/06/2026 15:40

As others have said, it's life changing and wish I hadn't been so scared to start in the first place.

Just got my 6st rosette from nutracheck today 🎉. A year on 2.5 losing just under 5st then had to increase to 3.75 for the last bit which has been painfully slow. BMI from 39.1 - 23.7 so I've lost nearly 40% of my body weight.

Willowy2 · 04/06/2026 16:06

No regrets! The journey has been an easy one for me. 5.5st loss in total, no unpleasant side effects, went up to 7.5mg in total. Been maintaining my weight for a year now. Changed my attitude to exercise, food and myself.

SilenceInside · 04/06/2026 16:14

I'm another with no regrets other than not starting sooner.

There will be some people who did not get on with these medications and experienced side effects that they couldn't or didn't want to tolerate. The clinical trials show that a small percentage of people, around 5%, dropped out due to side effects.

An even smaller number of people will have experienced some of the rarer but more serious side effects like pancreatitis, gallbladder issues and so on.

Evasmissingletter · 04/06/2026 16:29

It’s good to read this. I’m literally back from the Drs discussing my weight and joint pains. They we’re strongly against jabs citing all the side affects.

Proteinpudding · 04/06/2026 16:32

I've had no side effects, only benefits so far - aside from the cost I've nothing negative to report at all.
My friend really struggled with them because of side effects, but also in her words she'd felt like she'd 'lost a friend' in that food no longer provided the same comfort. But that was temporary, not least because she went on to have a much wanted baby after struggling TTC for a long time

reluctantbrit · 04/06/2026 16:48

Absolutely no regret. I lost 28kg, another 12kg to go. I lost weight (less) with WeightWatchers 20 years ago and that was still a constant battle.

Now my head is clear of food noise, I concentrate on re-learning how and what to eat and can also enjoy life again.

I still eat 3x a day, the odd snack but that's not 1-2x a week, not a daily one. My alcohol consume is down, I feel a lot better, not just because the weight is down.

For me it started fairly quickly that I didn't have any hunger. I am still on 5mg and that does not suppress it fully but enough and it enables me to learn making good choices.

I have constipation but then I am always prone to it. I may have the odd time with an upset stomach or feeling a bit off but nothing like the fairly long list of side effects. It's important to check them, yes but it's also important to realise that some are 1 in 10,000 people.

A healthy loss is between 1-2lb a week, it's not designed to shed the pounds in a matter of weeks, you need to see it long term.

PermanentTemporary · 04/06/2026 16:53

@Evasmissingletter thats interesting and obviously concerning. Clearly those who have life changing side effects will always be in a doctors’ mind. But I read an American article about a cardiology meeting where every single doctor there was taking them…

I’ve had quite significant side effects. I’d still take this sustained weight loss, and not being obese for almost the first time in my adult life, and having blood pressure finally lower than the ‘just tipping into scary’ level, every single time.

Mum2Fergus · 04/06/2026 16:55

No regrets other than not starting sooner…nearly 7st down now.

Allmarbleslost · 04/06/2026 16:58

I don't regret starting at all and I've lost 6 stone. I have come to realise though that I'm going to need to stay on a high dose to maintain, and that's bloody expensive. I wish I'd realised at the start that it wouldn't be a short term fix.

SerenitySeeker4 · 04/06/2026 17:08

It's too good. It's life changing.
