Best websites for online tutors?

Synecdoche · 23/06/2017 14:34

I'm looking into doing some online tutoring. I'm a fully qualified teacher with all the usual qualifications and would want to tutor KS3 and GCSE English.

Has anyone got any recommendations for which websites to work with, or any other experiences or advice?

Thank you!

Hello!

The only dedicated site I am aware of for online tutors is Spires. We used them for a level chemistry and all their tutors seems to have been at oxbridge. Quite reasonable as well, I paid £20 per hour for a lovely girl called Ellie and we live in the sticks so impossible to find a tutor of her calibre locally. Their online platform is really swish too. Highly recommend it. I think their URL is //www.spires.co

Hope this helps. Smile

Suzy

I teach higher education students. The only agency I advertise with is First Tutors that have brought me lots of clients. You don't have to pay to register as a tutor, but the student has to pay for your contact details. I find them very easy to work with, and I have been with them since 2008. You can offer primary school right up to higher education, your details are verified by the agency and you can elect to do online/ off line teaching.

Hi,

There are lots of website where one can sign-up to become a tutor.
You can check out Wyzant, SuperProf, Preply.

At Preply, you can decide your own rates, subjects & schedule. The interface and overall system makes it very easy to connect to students.

Disclaimer: I work at Preply Inc. but I'm only recommending it because it's a great way to learn.

I would also like opinions on this OP as I am looking into the same thing myself.

My twpennorth so far is that I had MyTutor recommended to me by someone who works for them but reading the reviews on Glassdoor.com I am not so sure. There are lts of complaints abut pay and the interface breaking down.

I have had Preply recommended to me by someone as a student. It´s good to see the recommendations here. I might give that one a go.

I have just read reviews of preply on the same site and they are worse!

I am interested in MyTutor because they have a programme set up with schools. I am hoping that this will fit in well around school hours for my children. It seems that you can also find yourself giving 5-10 lessons to the same pupil, which I would prefer. You do have to pay for your own DBS check though.

I know //www.improvetuition.org/online-tutors-uk offers online tuition. It is small and so offers to ensure each child is monitored.
