Which ring would you choose?

I want to buy myself a piece of jewelry that will last for years and be wearable on a daily basis i.e. nothing so fancy that I can only wear it for special occasions.

I'm leaning towards an eternity ring for my right hand. Budget - around $800 - $900 usd. I saw the bottom 2 options which both have good specs and fall within budget. Each is 1ct of natural dimonds.

And if not a ring, then what? I recently got a diamond pendant from DH so not keen on another necklace but maybe? My hair is long and curly and smaller earrings get a bit lost, so not sure about studs.

I am not UK-based so will have to purchase from an American site.

Options below but in case the pics don't align under the correct options, Option 1 is a baguette and round diamond band and Option 2 is a princess cut eternity band.

Option 1.

Option 2

If you have a lovely pendant , and I share you view on earrings - I lose them all the time , once a really good pair of diamond studs , a ring which can be worn everyday is a lovely idea.

Tortephant · 22/04/2026 12:53

That site seem suspicious, you won’t get close to 1ct for that price in the UK.

It's the Amazon US Site and I've bought from both sellers previously - Ross Simmons and VIR Jewelers.

UK diamond prices are much higher than US prices in my experience.

Edited

Perhaps a totally different way of living but I wouldn’t be buying proper jewellery on Amazon.

They’re chips, not a single stone

I mean they're both well-known jewelry brands using the world's largest retail site as a third-party seller, so that's fine by me. 🤷

By the way @PumpkinPieAlibi I much prefer (and voted) ring 1. I think the shape of the second one is a bit strange and the little etchings in the setting too fussy for mr.

Thanks @BasiliskStare. I was drawn to the second one initially but I don't like the look when worn and the milgraining is nice but I agree, it's a bit fussy.

For everyone who said another piece of jewelry, what piece would you suggest?

Exactly.
I wouldn't be spending that on mass produced jewlerry. I would rather choose in person from an actual jeweller. Something hand made rather than manufactured and something that I can see. Something that doesn't have Amazon commission coming out of what I am paying.

Tennis bracelet

I get your point but I live in a small Caribbean island. Jewelry stores with benches who can do more advanced customisations are pretty much non-existent. And finished jewelry is sold at exorbitant prices due to high import fees and general overpricing locally.

I'd basically pay 4-5x the cost locally for what I'd get online.

Re: tennis bracelet, I'd love that but I'd need to have a budget of at least 2,000 usd for that...maybe in the future.

How rude of you. They may not be to your liking but the OP has asked for advice not rudeness.

Sorry @PumpkinPieAlibiIve got nothing to add about the rings themselves but what a nice quandary to be in 😊

YeahNoCoolCrap · 22/04/2026 18:12

Definitely ring one. If it's to be worn for years that one will age much better.

caringcarer · 22/04/2026 18:14

If probably buy some long dangly diamond earrings to go with diamond studs you already have. If your hair is long I think long dangly earrings look good.

YeahNoCoolCrap · 22/04/2026 18:15

If you were choosing another type of jewellery, I would go for a simple gold bracelet that you can wear all the time, and will go with any watch or other bracelets.

bumptybum · 22/04/2026 18:17

I think you will find an eternity ring with 1ct total weight will irl look very disappointing.
its amazing how things photograph in a way that they look so much bigger

It’s not rude to share an opinion when asked

PumpkinPieAlibi · 23/04/2026 01:15

@ButterYellowHair - 😅Well you were a tiny bit rude but I'm appreciate the feedback nonetheless. You're making me reconsider the rings altogether.

@caringcarer - dangly earrings are nice but I probably can't afford diamond ones flon my budget, maybe gold.

@YeahNoCoolCrap - this is a good call and a classic jewellery piece. I actually already have something like this but a station bracelet might be nice

@bumptybum - I have a 1/2 carat half eternity and a 1.25 half eternity also, so I have a sense of the proportions. But yes, it isn't as substantial as people may think.

OP posts:
Purplebeach · 23/04/2026 02:54

I think an eternity ring for 1 ct might not look substantial enough unless you have very slim fingers. I’d spend the money on a lovely gemstone or a gold bracelet.
