Why don't you have a search on Vinted with this criteria? You don't have to buy 2nd hand but it might inspire you with brands.

Seasalt is good for this type of stuff.

A belted shirt dress would be good for the semi fitted look you're after. I've got a Seasalt 'Seed Packet' dress which is a good shape.

I agree look on Vinted and filter the brand to Boden, Seasalt, White Stuff, Weird Fish, Brakeburn, Lands End & Joe Browns - they all tend to make dresses in cotton and linen and have semi fitted styles.

Have a look at Roman, some of their stuff can be a bit frumpy but their cotton summer dresses are great.

Brakeburn, Fat Face & Mountain Watehouse (although might be too short for what you’re looking for) are my go to places for this sort of dress

This style of dress from Seasalt is much better on than it looks. I have one in a different pattern and it fits perfectly. It is decent cotton with lining.

Aspiga fits the bill. Bit pricey but they have good sale reductions and I expect there will be quite a few second hand

What size & height are you? Print or plain? If you like prints, what kind? Stripes, dots, graphic/abstract, floral - ditsy or large? And what colours do you like/suit?

Would you buy on eBay/Vinted? Or do you prefer new, so that you can try on & return?

And ... budget?!!!

5ft 6. 14/16. Plain, not floral, maybe spot or stripe. Green, brown/beige, maybe blue but not baby! Not teal!
not keen on Seasalt/Brakeburn/Weird Fish type.
prefer more classic. Love a linen dress but not one that makes me look the size of a house!

If you like browns/beiges, & denim/navy blues, I'm assuming you'd prefer more khaki/olive greens than bright greens?
