Do supporters not care that Zack Polanski is a liar?

A recent thread started, “I’m seriously impressed with this guy. Anyone else find him refreshingly honest and sensible?”

He has LIED about representing the Red Cross, LIED about working for the Dept of Justice (he was hired as a role play actor for staff training), LIED about being a proper hypnotherapist, and OBFUSCATED about where he is living (avoiding council tax). And that’s just what’s been discovered in a matter of weeks!

If this were your boss, say, would you still think he was great?

Show me a politician who nobody is able to dig up any dirt on whatsoever, and you'll be showing me a pretty much empty room.

Choose your liar.

Yellowingtrees · 11/05/2026 14:37

ok most people aren't whiter than white, but there are some pretty black lines in that grey! The bigging himself up isn't great, partly because it suggests a less robust sense of self than the's going to need if he's to be a serious politician.

What's the council tax bit about?

Nihongo · 11/05/2026 14:38

Unfortunately, they’re all liars.

I agree that he seems particularly slimy, but there seem to be no good political options these days - they’re all chancers and charlatans.

MaturingCheeseball · 11/05/2026 14:43

Of course skeletons abound for most, but really, saying he was in the Justicd Dept when it was an acting job through an agency!

People seem to care less about Farage being a liar

MagicalMystical · 11/05/2026 14:48

A party is a political movement, a series of manifesto pledges designed to carry a specific set of ideas into government, not its leader.

He hasn't paid any. Or he has registered to vote somewhere he doesn't live.

Zack Polanski and his partner called their narrowboat their “amazing home” for three years. He registered to vote there. If it was his main residence, council tax was due. None was paid. His team says he stayed there only “occasionally” - if true, th...

I dont think anyone cares. Boris Johnson a habitual, proven liar who got sacked from jobs for lying, became the Prime Minister!🤷‍♀️

Reminds me of RR'd pretending she worked at BoE for 10 years instead of 6 years with 1 year spent on secondment. She also lied about winning a chess tournament and pretended she had wrote an article in some economic journal when she hadn't.

Nihongo · 11/05/2026 15:23

It’s a sad state of affairs that most of us wouldn’t trust any of them.

I heard someone recently yearning for the politicians of old, who used to just lie about having a mistress.

ThatThreeLeggyFlag · 11/05/2026 15:27

A lot of the younger Greens think he’s being unfairly maligned by the media which proves he’s in the right, and he’s kinda up there in their thoughts as a messiah.

ThatThreeLeggyFlag · 11/05/2026 15:29

It’s a fair point that ZP is getting a much harder ride by the media than Farage and Johnson ever have had.

I think that’s a statement that’s hard to prove.

I think that’s a statement that’s hard to prove.

Ive spoken to Green voters since Thursday who certainly have this perception, and it’s not a wildly unreasonable one for them to express.

Farage and Johnson have both arguably had enormous and disproportionate obsequiousness and airtime given to them by eg certain elements of the BBC.

It helps them defend ZP psychologically. Thats interesting, whether we like it or not. I personally can’t stand the bloke <shrug>

MaturingCheeseball · 11/05/2026 15:52

It’s interesting. I can’t imagine what he could do to put people off… support Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest?

I wouldn't worry about it. Policy is set by the members in the Greens, not but the reply leadership. People are keen on their policies.

Unless you think looks and personalities are what counts.

Speaking to Green voters is hardly evidence though. It’s just some peoples perceptions.

He gives me the creeps anyway and being a liar is no surprise.

Shoola · 12/05/2026 05:02

He is a total charlatan. There is nothing about him to suggest otherwise.

He is selling something that many find appealing though. He is offering them other people's money, and some self righteous hatred against certain groups. People have always gone for that.

That old trope. There are plenty of politicians I could ‘share’ who don’t have the levels of dirt of ZP!! Be real. Keir Starmer or Wes Sreeting for one. Rishi Sunak. Ed Miliband. I think you’re confusing incompetent with dishonest, though in ZP’s case he is both.

ThatThreeLeggyFlag · 12/05/2026 06:38

It’s often council tax that catches up with people in the public eye. Expect more to follow.

‘The Green Party has admitted that its leader Zack Polanski has, until recently, been living on a houseboat in London and may have failed to pay council tax.’

BBC article by the wonderfully named Damian Grammaticas, from three hours ago.

Leader of the Green Party of England and Wales, Zack Polanski, departing the BBC on 3 May.

Polanski apologises for 'unintentional mistake' over houseboat council tax

The Green Party admits that its leader has, until recently, been living on a houseboat in London and may have failed to pay council tax.

Because they want to look cool and ‘down with the kids’ OR they are kids and have no experience of the real world
