What are your thoughts on the name Cherish for a girl?

I personally love an unusual virtue name (since coming across the name Comfort on the TV show casualty in the 90s)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I don’t like it, but I’m not a massive fan of names like Hope or Mercy or Destiny etc

Honaloulou · 25/06/2022 22:11

I don't mind it. I prefer Honour in that vein.

ChagSameachDoreen · 25/06/2022 23:54

Dreadful.

BiscoffSundae · 25/06/2022 23:55

No

Kool and the Gang fan?

bridgetreilly · 26/06/2022 00:24

It’s not even a virtue, it’s an instruction. To me it makes her sound fragile and weak. I really don’t like it.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 26/06/2022 00:26

No.

IdaFlowers · 26/06/2022 00:35

I prefer Cherry

AuntTwacky · 26/06/2022 00:37

Awful

Potatomashed · 26/06/2022 00:49

I think it’s lovely 😊

Princessoftheuniverse · 26/06/2022 00:52

Awful . Sorry.

daisypond · 26/06/2022 01:11

It’s not really a virtue name, though, because it’s a verb. Virtue names are nouns -Grace, Faith, Charity etc. There isn’t a noun linked to cherish- unless you use cherishing.

KosherDill · 26/06/2022 02:34

Gag.

Circumferences · 26/06/2022 02:37

No from me sorry I also don't like Cher for a name

ofwarren · 26/06/2022 02:39

I don't hate it, it's okay

BenCoopersSupportWren · 26/06/2022 08:32

I quite like it, I worked with a Cherish for a little while and she was lovely, so I have positive connotations with the name.

Sorryyoufeelthatway · 19/03/2023 21:55

Not a virtue. Just bad

MumOf2workOptions · 19/03/2023 22:10

Awful
Are her siblings going to be comfort, harmony and melody and other ridiculous names!

Enko · 19/03/2023 22:17

I really like it. I once knew a Cherish who was just the friendliest loveliest woman and I know due to this I just smile and have feel-good associations to this name.

user1492757084 · 20/03/2023 04:34

Not a fan, sorry.
I like only some virtue type names ...
Faith
Hope
Mercy
Clemency
Trinity
Honor
Prudence
Serena
Felicity
Grace
Constance
Annunciata
Agnes

I know a Cherith and that seems ok. Cherish makes me think of Kool and the Gang.

OnTheThames · 20/03/2023 12:49

I think it’s really lovely.

TurnLeftAtTheBakery · 20/03/2023 12:52

I don't mind some virtue names but like others say I think nouns work better. I like Cherish better than Comfort though. Comfort just seems a bit weird, brings to mind Comfort Women.

Penguinsmum · 20/03/2023 12:55

I absolutely love it. I would have loved this for a daughter.
