I don't like it when they frame it as "it's only minus £2,000" or whatever the low offer is, ignoring the money they have to play for in the default position, if they got 6 questions right, there is no option to play for zero (only if you get no questions right at the start being the exception), at that point it's minus £8,000 not just minus £2,000.

It was actually Beat The Chasers (where you play as a single player against a number of Chasers). I took the highest offer of £100k and lost put by five seconds 😬🤦‍♀️

It was Beat The Chasers. I played The Vixen, The Beast, The Menace, The Sinnerman and the Super Nerd (Anne was off ill with Covid). The Dark Destroyer got to sit it out for my game 🙂

It can work out though.

DH was on it, last player took the minus offer, but they then won the final chase with the chaser only needing one more and the guy who took the minus answered two sport questions DH and the woman didn’t know. They played for £1k each less because of his minus, but had he not got back (and he only just got back) they’d have won nothing.

I can just about get on board with the tactics (while still screaming at the tv), but I do NOT understand the people who apparently dream of something costing a fair chunk, say £20k plus, and then they go for the low offer…
Who do they expect will fund the dream of theirs then?!

Low offer is fine. The minus offer people just need to fuck off. What’s the point in getting to the final? One extra rung on the ladder? But they’re as a thick as mince so it all evens out.

The Head to Head part of the game in theory is the easiest part of the competition because you have a 1 in 3 chance of getting it right. The Cash Builder and The Final Chase depend on your individual or collective knowledge.

I think it depends on the make up of the team. As in the case above - those two questions the person got right (plus the extra step for the third player) made the difference between winning and losing. And a third of something is better than half of nothing.

You do get an extra point though don't you for each player that you take to the table. So even if they don't answer any questions they've effectively answered one by being there.

Having said that it's way more exciting when somebody goes for the high amount.

Three times I've applied to go on and had 2 phone interviews, but not got past that stage so I take it as a personal insult when minus offer wankers, especially when they got loads wrong, get through to the final chase!

I’m still annoyed I didn’t go high but we still

Sometimes it’s a tactical decision. The extra person can make the difference between a win or a lose even if they don’t answer anything. A minus offer of 10,000 from a massive pot (when one player has gone high and won) isn’t that big of a deal if it secures the win.

I didn’t see today’s but I guess if it’s from a smaller amount it’s different. I wouldn’t take a minus offer unless it was from a large amount but I’d be tempted if it was in the +++
