AIBU to find sandals the hardest shoe to find

A bit of a whinge really and wondering if it is the same for other people. I find sandals so bloody hard to find.

Criteria
Leather
Comfortable
Look stylish - not orthopaedic or for the very elderly
Absolutely no velcro
Can't have a solid strap across the toes, as I have skinny feet and they are always too wide
Ankle or heel strap needed
No wedge heels
No high heels
Not completely flat either
No toe posts
No studs, sequins or anything sparkly

Realise that is a lot of criteria, but it must be possible!

Moshulu Newark 2? My sister has just bought these in Black and Tan she says they’re very comfortable.

WeatherOrNothing · 13/05/2026 14:48

Yanbu. Why are women’s sandals so so ugly. If you ask for comfortable and stylish it’s baffling to me how you will be recommended Hotters, Tevas or something as you described (orthopaedic and for the elderly).
not to mention how so many of them look like toddler shoes with thick soles and straps.
I’m guessing the Moshulu recommendations is not what you’re looking for

My favourites for pretty and stylish yet comfortable sandals - Sezane, Bobbies, anonymous coppenhagen. Very pricy but they look gorgeous with anything

Penelope Chilvers.

MargoLivebetter · 13/05/2026 15:02

Thank you all. I don't hate Moshulu but I have narrow feet and they look like they are all quite wide fitting.

@WeatherOrNothing you have understood me! I don't wear sandals that often so don't mind investing, as they will last ages. I'm off to check out your recommendations.

Ancient Greek might fit the description

Malasana · 13/05/2026 15:10

The saltwater sandal by Heavenly Feet is lovely. Plenty of different colours as well.

Bunnyofhope · 13/05/2026 15:34

Saltwater sandals sun-san variety are reasonably narrow fitting

Shortbread49 · 13/05/2026 15:39

Celtic sheepskin have some nice ones

Shortbread49 · 13/05/2026 15:41

Especially ones with buckles on the straps I also have narrow feet

Ablondiebutagoody · 13/05/2026 15:54

Let it go. Sandals look ugly for anyone older than 4. And 4 is pushing it.

chargingdock · 13/05/2026 15:57

I love sandals & have far too many, maybe look at Ancient Greek, K Jacques, Loeffler Randall & A Emery - I am always happy with these although you have a fair few caveats!

it’s baffling to me how you will be recommended Hotters, Tevas or something as you described (orthopaedic and for the elderly).

I don’t know about Hotter but I needed a lightweight non leather option last year & these Tevas did the job & looked great imo.

Not true although it does depend on the foot!

I assume you have ugly troll feet then. I have lovely feet and look great in sandals 👍

I wouldn’t normally comment on someone’s personal choice but going by your criteria I wouldn’t really put those in the stylish category….

After an afternoon trawling through your suggestions (thank you) , I'm erring towards: https://www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/gracie-leather-strappy-back-strap-sandals-p-A4C#B87

They are a bit flatter than I'd like, but that's roughly what I'm thinking of.

I rest my case

😂did you mean to be so rude?!

CallingKathleen · 13/05/2026 16:47

I was going to suggest those but thought they were too flat and had a solid strap! I’ve got some fitflop mules and they are quite wide.

MargoLivebetter · 13/05/2026 16:48

Yes, that is a worry that they will be too wide @CallingKathleen but it looks as though FlipFlop will take returns. Dune also have some nice looking options too. I'll continue looking.

I have those.. l have very slim feet.. l buy Clarks D fitting too ..
But l am 67

VividDeer · 13/05/2026 16:52

Rude, I've just ordered those gracie ones lol
Not 100% on them and they are quite wide. I dont like the leather foot bed as think it will be sweaty and blister
