To have never cleaned under my sofa

Ahhffs · 05/05/2026 19:08

I have just realised that I haven't pulled my sofa out and cleaned under it since it was new- about 3 years ago.
how often do you clean under your sofa? I'm a bit horrified at this realisation it just completely never crossed my mind to do it__

Once a month.

Cantthinkofanewusernameffs · 05/05/2026 19:11

Never. I can't shift it on my own.

Don't move any other furniture to vacuum under either. Except maybe the dining chairs.

thinktoomuchtoooften · 05/05/2026 19:11

Every couple of weeks maybe. Takes moments.

Arlanymor · 05/05/2026 19:12

Once a month I pull stuff away from the walls and vacuum behind and under. Doesn't need doing more frequently than that as I'm not a grotbag.

Nopenott0day · 05/05/2026 19:13

We have two dogs so deliberately got a sofa & chairs you can get a hoover underneath. So once a day.

GoodVibesHere · 05/05/2026 19:13

Whenever I get a new sofa! Years and years

aWeeCornishPastie · 05/05/2026 19:14

I do mine about once a year if that there’s never much under there just a few crumbs and the odd sweetie wrapper

AllTheWatersTurnedToClouds · 05/05/2026 19:14

when a big old dust bunny floats out to shame me into doing it 😂

Okllln · 05/05/2026 19:15

I have 4 kids so every couple of weeks

SandwichSuperstar · 05/05/2026 19:15

Once a week but I'm pretty hot on pest control due to a problem in my old house.

sallymonella · 05/05/2026 19:16

Never, it's far too heavy to move by myself and life is too short.

shellyleppard · 05/05/2026 19:16

Once in a blue moon 🌚.....its a sofa bed so only clean when we have visitors staying over

MyPolitePeachSloth · 05/05/2026 19:17

We’ve put pool noddles in the gaps to try and stop as much dirt as possible. But we still pull it out once or twice a year and give it a good clean

BH90210 · 05/05/2026 19:18

M easy to move sofa about once a month.

my old sofa was really heavy and difficult to drag across carpet

OttersOnAPlane · 05/05/2026 19:19

Never in 2.5 years. It's a massive L shaped couch that takes 4 of us to move and it's got less than a centimetre clearance.

youalright · 05/05/2026 19:20

I mean I shove the hose of the vacuum under there but apart from that rarely. I did it more when kids where the age where they would put stuff under there

itsmeits · 05/05/2026 19:21

The 2 on carpet once a month.
The one on laminate once a week when I do the full mop rather than the quick mop.

Lins77 · 05/05/2026 19:23

I'm not the best at housework, but I do pull out and hoover under the sofa every couple of weeks. Otherwise crumbs seem to gather there!

Topseyt123 · 05/05/2026 19:26

I almost never move it.

I can get a broom and the robot vacuum cleaner easily under it though and so it doesn't get too bad.

Now if you asked me about down the back of the fridge, the freezer, the dishwasher, the washing machine and the dryer ...... ? Only when I need to buy a new one every few years.

ImFckingMattDamon · 05/05/2026 19:28

Every week but it has about 10cm ground clearance so my 6 year old it always losing things under it! It's on gliders so it pulls out really easily though

Riapia · 05/05/2026 19:49

Why on earth would you want to?
There’s enough tasks that need doing in plain sight without looking for more.

Nothingrhymes · 05/05/2026 19:56

My current sofa is a cottage style one so actually it's really easy to sweep under there with my broom. And I do that virtually every day because it's amazing the amount of crumbs and bits of stuff that accumulate there and really annoy me
With past sofas though i only used to hoover under them once in a blue moon when they had to be moved for some reason because they were really heavy.

CookieDoughJoe · 05/05/2026 19:58

Every few days.

Aliflowers · 05/05/2026 19:58

Once a week and also so I can get along skirtings. I will say though that we’re a house full of asthma sufferers so I try to keep dust to a minimum.

Theyre on wooden floors though with furniture pads in the feet so can just slide them out

PineConeOrDogPoo · 05/05/2026 19:59

Once a year or so as it's bulky to move and has very little space to pass anything.
