Hi! Hope this is ok to ask on here!

I’ve got my first ever British wedding over here and I want to make sure I get it right!

I’ve seen loads of videos on tiktok with people in their 20s and for wedding guest dresses they wear stuff like this, and I really like the dress, but just not sure if it’s too low cut and strappy and skimpy for a wedding? It’ll be in summer if that makes a difference.

just not sure if me liking the dress is clouding my judgement haha. Honest opinions would be gratefully appreciated as I don’t want to make an idiot of myself!

That’s beautiful! Definitely acceptable for a wedding 😊

sprigatito · 03/05/2026 22:27

I think it’s lovely and very classy. It would be fine for any of the weddings I’ve been to.

Thatmoneywasjustrestinginmyaccount · 03/05/2026 22:27

Totally fine and appropriate. Lovely dress!

Besidemyselfwithworry · 03/05/2026 22:28

Really lovely dress

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 03/05/2026 22:32

Yes. Perfect but is the venue air conditioned? What cover up have you planned?

DappledThings · 03/05/2026 22:33

It's absolutely right for a wedding.

JessLou80 · 03/05/2026 22:33

A stunning dress - totally wedding acceptable! Enjoy!

NoisyBuilder · 03/05/2026 22:35

Ah! That's lovely OP & very wedding appropriate.

HalfApology · 03/05/2026 22:36

Lovely dress and perfect for a summer wedding.

I agree with the pp who said to have something to cover your shoulders and arms in case it’s not that warm.

NotAnotherScarf · 03/05/2026 22:36

Yep fine. The real thing in the UK is not wearing white, looking good but classy and dressing weather appropriate...if it's June that dress is perfect, December you're looking like a dork.

Miranda65 · 03/05/2026 22:36

Is it a church wedding? If it is, I would wear a jacket/throw/pashmina on top for the service itself.
And if it's a Muslim wedding it's a definite no!

FairyBatman · 03/05/2026 22:36

It’s lovely and fine for a wedding, if it’s in a church I would take a wrap both to cover shoulders and because it might be chilly inside.

maddiemookins16mum · 03/05/2026 22:38

That is one of the prettiest dresses I’ve seen in ages.

Hillarious · 03/05/2026 22:38

Fine with a cardi.

TotHappy · 03/05/2026 22:39

Fine without a cardi in my church. It does vary of course but there tends not to be a 'no shoulders in church ' rule.

shiningstar2 · 03/05/2026 22:45

Love the dress. If it's a church wedding I would wear a thin fitted jacket over it for the service. If not I would still have a matching fitted cardi with me. Even in June it can be cold here, especially if celebrations continue into the evening or have outside elements included at any time of day.

PfizerFan · 03/05/2026 22:45

Nice dress! Might buy it for a wedding I'm going to in July...

PracticallyPeapod · 03/05/2026 22:51

Definitely appropriate. Make sure you have a jacket as it can be freezing even in summer and inevitably you’ll be standing around outside at some point.

LongDarkTeatime · 03/05/2026 22:52

Lovely dress.
For UK weather, and if it’s formal or Church, you’ll need a jacket or something to cover your shoulders.

If it’s a Muslim wedding the men and women will be separate and it’s perfectly appropriate.

RaininSummer · 03/05/2026 23:00

Gorgeous dress. Maybe look out for a jacket or shawl as a British summer can be a bit chilly sometimes.

DappledThings · 03/05/2026 23:01

Whilst it would be sensible to have another layer available for a church in case of being chilly there's absolutely no need for another layer for the sake of it. Women have been getting married in churches of all kinds in sleeveless dresses for decades. Guests are not required to cover shoulders any more than brides are.

mindutopia · 03/05/2026 23:02

You can’t really count on summery weather in the UK. So definitely plan layers so you stay warm and dry, especially if there will be stretches outside, possibly in wind or rain. No jacket or cover up will be fine once everyone is dancing, but you might be chilly otherwise.

MrThorpeHazell · 04/05/2026 09:59

Yes. No question about it.

Wishineversmoked · 04/05/2026 10:33

My favourite colour it’s lovely
