To think I’ll never be able to get rid of a wart but I love my nails

I feel like my nails look amazing. This is actually my first manicure in a long time. I love them. They’re so cute. Do you agree? But I have this wart that won’t go away and I’ve had it frozen off 2 times and it just comes back. It’s been there for 5 years. Can anyone relate? I’m so tired of it :( I also have a verruca on my foot that I’ve had for 12 years. Please be kind, I’m going thru some stuff right now.

My son had a wart that we couldn't get rid of, we tried everything even freezing didn't work. Then we tried tea tree oil and it went within a month. We soaked the wart in warm water, filed it gently and applied tea tree oil every night.

Pennydoenstwhistle · 20/04/2026 11:38

Beautiful nails!
Have you tried duct tape on it ( both the wart and verruca) overnight for a few weeks ? It worked for me 😊

watchingthishtread · 20/04/2026 11:42

It looks like you've got two warts on that finger. I think you should keep going with the freezing (or tape, or tea tree oil) or you'll end up with lots more of them.

The nails are lovely.

Your nails are lovely.

i had a very persistent wart on my knee as a teen. Threw everything at it, OTC and prescription. It eventually disappeared after I cut it with a razor blade in the bath, must have brought it to the attention of my immune system. Never had a wart or verruca since. I’m not recommending you cut it mind, it might make matters worse.

This might help?

DS had a wart on his knee. It was huge, about the size of a pea.

We gave him a piece of raw meat, he rubbed this on the wart and then buried it in secret in the garden. Wart was gone in a week, you could almost see it shrinking.

It was DHs idea, as it had worked for him when he was a child. I was deeply sceptical, but it absolutely worked.

Fascinating! My DM, a countrywoman had a stock of these weird folk remedies including this one, which I didn’t try! She did try to buy the wart off me by giving me 10p but that didn’t work!

Ironfist · 20/04/2026 12:04

Nail varnish remover got rid of mine years ago, they never returned!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/04/2026 12:07

My DD had warts over her hands for a few years. Nothing would get rid of them then we tried tea tree oil. The pure stuff diluted with another essential oil. They went in days. You have lovely nails

WhereTheHellAreMyGlasses · 20/04/2026 12:11

Are you sure it’s a wart? I have something similar though it’s filled with clear gel (it burst once) and a derm has just diagnosed it as a myxoid cyst.

I’m a bit concerned that your cuticle area on two fingers is swollen, red and shiny - often a sign of infection. I’d keep an eye on that, especially if you have gels or acrylics regularly.

Love the nails, lovely shape.

With the verruca, you need to cut it out. Use bazucca to kill the skin around it and then but an electric nail file (about £6 off Amazon) and use a combo of that and nail clippers to dig a hole to the root of the verruca. You'll know you are at the root when you see black dots. Cut it out. Just keep going, I've got rid of several persistent ones using that method after the tea tree/ duct tape failed. Very satisfying once it's done!

Never had a wart so can't help with that.

Hopefully needless to say, but don't use the electric file or nail clippers on anything else or you'll spread them.

And lastly, have you had a smear? Warts are caused by HPV and whilst the strain for warts and verrucas are different to the strains for cervical cancer, you often find people have multiple different strains. Modern smear tests check for the relevant strains.

Soak the wart in Apple cider vinegar, properly soak into the skin so for 20-30 mins if possible. Repeat daily for about 2 weeks.
It will sting, it will look minging, but it will work!

Jollyjupiter · 20/04/2026 13:39

DO NOT use bazooka. I put it on a wart on my foot and got an Ulcer...

I had a persistent verruca for years went to see a specialist they applied some kind of solution that didn’t work. Tried to get it frozen off. It didn’t want to go. In the end I cut it out myself used nail clipper to get closer and closer to the centre then twisted and pulled the stalk out. It bled a LOT! I applied a dressing soaked in salicylic acid and applied pressure. That was 3 years ago and it never came back id had it for 7 years before that!

Helpforsummer · 20/04/2026 19:06

My daughter had 7 verrucas on one foot, I thought they'd never go. A month taking zinc supplements and they're finally gone. Literally watched them disappear in the space of a week it was like the massive buggers had never been there at all.

Cotswoldmama · 20/04/2026 19:13

I had a wart for ages on my finger and it might have been coincidence but someone told me to pick some dandelions snap the stalks and put the white liquid on my wart and it did go away. It was a long time ago, I can't remember how long I put it on for but might be worth a try!

BigBrownBoogyingBear · 20/04/2026 19:34

We had great success with H-Warts solution.

endofthelinefinally · 20/04/2026 19:45

You have 2 warts on that finger and the beginnings of a nail bed infection on the finger on the far left of the photo.
The nails are lovely but the problem with manicures is that warts and infection can spread very quickly.
Keep a close eye on that finger on the left and ask a pharmacist about wart removal. I wouldn't put anything on the emerging second wart because it looks a bit inflamed.
Hot salt water can help to thwart nail bed infection.
