My Dc has been with his dad for a week (unusual) and I really struggle to get back into a routine with him after a long period apart

I quite enjoy when my dh is away and I have the house to myself.

TheSassyOpalMember · 04/06/2026 08:28

Also people think im very quick and efficient. I am but probably because if things weren't done in 2 seconds my mother would scream and become abusive so I've learnt to do things extremely quickly

I was the same when my DC went to my mum’s for thr weekend. Love them to bits but really struggled to adjust for the first few hours/mess!!

Things I wouldn’t say in public:

I don’t like dogs at all (except my own)
I don’t like the Lake District (all the mountains make me claustrophobic and hemmed in)
I think Bob Marley is seriously overrated.

MesLunettes · 04/06/2026 09:45

I think pet ownership is unethical.

Well, actually I do say this to people in RL, but not to everyone.

I think about ending my life every single day. I wouldn't do it as my lovely mum would be heartbroken 💔

Slightyamusedandsilly · 04/06/2026 10:13

@MoaningLeeeeesa I also really dislike the Lake District. It's pretty in an 'ooooo nice' way as I'm driving through, but have no desire at all to stop there. I prefer my landscapes rugged.

Really dislike other people's children. I pretend to enjoy them in the way I enjoy my DC but nope. Get 'em outta my face.

In my opinion 95% of men are massively inferior to women. I think biologically they're less resilient, cope with pain, stress and complications badly. And socialisation added on top allows them to not strive to be better. I do know a few really good men. And they're head and shoulders above the majority of others.

Reform are just the new iteration of the National Front, the BNP, the EDL, Britain First. I'm happy to admit this in real life too because most people agree. Reform will go the same way as the other fascist parties when Nigel Mirage ages out in the same way Nick Griffin did. To be fair, Farage puts so little actual work into politics rather than sound bites, he might fade out much earlier.

HMOs are a logical response to the housing crisis. No, I don't want one near where I live (hypocrite) but I don't see any other option.

Are you me?!?!

every single one of these.

Adding to a pretty perfect list- women look better with (well applied) make up. Men probably do too tbh, but they don’t wear it. I’m not saying women have to wear makeup, but I have never met a woman who didn’t look better with it (including my own beautiful daughters)

Prefer your landscapes more rugged? Can you tell me anywhere else in the UK which has more rugged landscapes than the LD? We hike in Scotland a lot but like my mini trips to the LD as it’s reminiscent of the Scottish highlands.

Why wouldn't you admit to that in real life? It's really normal?

It is!

When my x was delayed at work ( worked nights) so I could leave the house before he got home and make sure I didn’t get back before he went to work. Then I realised life would be better if I left him so I did.

JustJoshing · 04/06/2026 10:43

I'm too transparent for secrets but I'm going to use this thread to learn what others hide so maybe I can mirror it and be a better person, socially...lol!

TigerRag · 04/06/2026 10:46

I don't like the hot weather. When I've mentioned it IRL, people seem rather baffled

I find the LD very chocolate boxy. Not for me.

Squirrelsnut · 04/06/2026 10:52

I think in general the south is a far nicer place to live than the north. (I have lived in the north and have family there).
There should be some sort of basic intelligence test to qualify for voting.
As a pp said, most women benefit from some light makeup.

nobodyssons · 04/06/2026 10:53

I work in the NHS.

I tell all my family to use PALS to get things expedited because the standard of care is woeful.

Have you spoken to someone about This must be torture. As someone whose partner took his own life i can honestly say the fall.out is unbearable. It would be magnified more for a parent
I hope you can get some support.

I hear you

Belladog1 · 04/06/2026 10:58

I'm always happy when my partner goes home. He doesn't live with me, but comes to stay once / twice a month for 3 or 4 days at a time. I absolutely adore the man, but when he goes home I can binge watch my reality TV (he doesn't like them), eat what and when I want .... and most importantly to me as a menopausal woman, sleep as a starfish with the fan on.

Last night I turned the fan on as I had started sweating, and he moaned within 2 mins that his head was cold. Grrrrrr. It's alright then love, I'll just suffer instead.

TheRealWhacker · 04/06/2026 10:58

I agree I don’t like the Lake District, the vast majority of the buildings are grey and ugly and it’s always rammed full of wanky hikers and it’s always raining. There are some nice hills but that’s about it. There are other much, much nicer areas of the UK IMO with way more to do and better food.

wishingonastar101 · 04/06/2026 11:01

can't be bothered with sex anymore but do love a wank!
