I'm just in my conservatory spot, eating breakfast while boy cat ekekek-s out the window at a huge wood pigeon! I have breakfast of fruit and baked apple yogurt 😋 and my usual brew. Dd2's just gone upstairs with her breakfast - same as me but a waffle instead of yogurt.

Once I've eaten this, I'll head up to get dressed. Today's plan is to move the girls' room round to try and work out where best to put a wardrobe for dd2 - we've semi-planned to do it for a while but she actually does need it! I've also settled on a sofa but don't know if our local Dunelm has them in store to try so need to ring them to find out - if not, I'll be crossing everything & ordering tonight.

My dad's bought me a new fork for the garden so is dropping that round shortly-ish, then I want dd2 to put on her prom dress so I can pin a couple of slight alterations it needs to sew by hand over the week.

If there's any day left after that, I'll carry on in the garden for an hour before cooking the gammon for tea. Not sure whether we'll have it as a roast yet, or with more salad 🤔.

Once we're tidied up after tea, I'll get my usual Self-Care-Sunday scrubby everything shower & crochet for an hour or so before bed 💤. Shame it's back to school tomorrow. I quite like pottering at housey stuff.

What about all of you? 🙂

The house could use a bit of dusting and tidying to put it mildly but it’s really a better day for a walk by the river. I am playing in a chess tournament later so should probably warm up for that.

Crunchymum · 31/05/2026 09:15

Happy Sunday all.

We'll be heading to the Arsenal parade this afternoon, although it looks set to be incredibly busy (despite them losing on penalties in CL final there'll still be a huge turnout).

We live close by the route so we can have a wander and find a spot.

Before that we'll get some homework done, I'll change cat litter trays, put some washing away. Just general pottering.

This evening we are having steak, new potatoes and salad for dinner and then it will be baths and an early night ready for back to school tomorrow.

It finally feels a bit cooler so that's a bonus.

gingercat02 · 31/05/2026 09:16

Morning all. Early wake up today as DH is running a 10 miler this morning. I am breakfasted and drinking a coffee with last week's Saturday Kitchen.
Off to PiYo in an hour and then waiting for DH to come home, I'm always slightly anxious since he had a cardiac arrest coming home from a race 3 years ago.
Did a load of garden bits yesterday in between enjoying the sun, but need to do a bit more weeding.
No other plans for today really.
Happy Sunday everyone

CowCat · 31/05/2026 09:24

Good morning! I have reformer Pilates at 10, meeting a friend for brunch in the City and then the Tracy Emin exhibition at The Tate. I have some work I will need to finish later.

Kim82 · 31/05/2026 10:02

Good morning! I was up at 6.30am again today, stupid bloody body clock not letting me lie in. Dh was already up when I got up too. We’ve done nothing so far today apart from drink many cups of tea and I’ve washed a load of towels, stripped my bed and put the covers in the washer. I’ll get showered and dressed after this cup of tea.

We’ve no plans for today really, dd11 is due home early afternoon and I’ll drop dd18’s friend at the train station at some point - they’re both still asleep at the minute. I need to iron dd11’s uniform ready for tomorrow but that’s the extent of today’s activities. I’m cooking a roast for tea then I’ll drop dh at his friend’s house as he’s staying there tonight as they have a very early flight tomorrow morning.

If I get bored today I might start prepping dd11’s room as I am decorating it this week whilst I’m off work but if not that can wait until tomorrow.

Thislittlekitten · 31/05/2026 10:12

Good Morning All

Got up and had a shower and now waiting for a cup of tea from DH. Don’t feel like I slept well at all. I did stay up late doing course work.

Plans today are really just taking DS to an all day event. I’ll take a book and some work to do. I’ll just be hanging about.

DH is going to take the dog out and a few jobs at home. DD is sleeping but plans on revising today.

Not sure about tea. DH will
pick something up but not sure what.

Enjoy your day everyone

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 31/05/2026 10:14

Good morning lucysmam and others. It sounds like a busy day ahead for you! I've had two coffees, 2 slices of homemade bread on butter and I'm on my second cup of tea. I have been to Aldi and then put the food away. After this cuppa, I will clean the bathroom, empty and load the dishwasher, polish and hoover. Dinner will be something with chicken. Enjoy your day all

JingsMahBucket · 31/05/2026 10:14

Morning @lucysmam and the Sunday crew. The past few days have been quite full on and full of people-ing so I am deliberately making the choice to rest in bed. @Kim82 I too have been awake since about 6:30am and I’m tired. I got up then to open up the windows to cool the house down, brush my teeth, etc but crawled back into bed. My OH eventually woke up and got out of bed about 90 min ago. He brought me bacon in bed. 🙂

I think I’m going try sleeping again for an hour then will get up to make a tomato meat sauce to use in a baked pasta for tonight’s dinner. I also have some work to do but want to just take it easy today. Have a lovely day everyone.

literallyevery · 31/05/2026 10:18

Had a great sleep last night after a week of broken sleep from upping my sertraline dose (best thing I’ve ever done is that AD!) so think it’s levelling out now in my system.
DC age 3 and 6 are playing in the garden. DS6 has learnt how to push off on his bike himself so less tears and tantrums. DD3 is becoming better at playing with her brother.
DH, me and the 2 of them are off for a bike ride and picnic lunch.
Loving the cooler weather today and actually looking forward to some rain coming to water my lawn.
This afternoon I think we’ll pop out or stay in the garden! Happy Sunday.

HeyHowdyHey · 31/05/2026 10:47

Good morning everyone.
the dc slept in gave me a lovely long lie until 8.30 this morning which was lovely. Washing machine is going and I’m on my second coffee of the day.
youngest two are playing with a new toy purchased at a spring fayre yesterday, and oldest happy upstairs with his book.

today will be a chilled day after a busy one yesterday out all day and then friends over. Will make something with sausages for dinner. We’ll get some board games out after lunch, and if the weather dries up the kids might go out and play with their friends.

I’ll get the last of the uniforms ironed today and get organised for back to routine tomorrow. Only 17 school days left until the summer holidays were we are in Scotland. ☀️

Tiddlywinks63 · 31/05/2026 10:56

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, it’s chilly here but welcome after the heatwave during the week.
DH has taken bigger dog out, tiddler is snoozing and snoring and I’m say watching the grey clouds banking up over the village. I hope it doesn’t rain because I have washed the kitchen rug.
I have also cleaned the bathroom and toilet, deadheaded my roses, sorted out a rubbish bin for my shed, done an online Ocado shop, prepped everything for dinner and all before 11am. Go me! 🤩
Oh, and eaten a cinnamon roll while drinking a cup of tea.
Little else going on here, it’s very pleasant and peaceful.

Andnowshesatoddler · 31/05/2026 11:24

The weather feels pretty moody here today it's gorgeous we've got the windows and doors open and having a rest I feel like I've not slept well for ages.

I'm going to make a smoothie shortly and have a coffee.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 31/05/2026 11:34

I was up at 7 today which is late for me, had a good sleep for once! Had an iced coffee and fed the cat, doom scrolled for a bit and then got dressed, went out for a 5k run and then home, did some stretches and now chilling on the sofa. DD still asleep upstairs (she worked all day yesterday and is knackered).

I’m going to Lidl in a bit for some lunch stuff that I forgot to add to yesterday’s Tesco order, then I’m planning to head to the park with a book and a picnic blanket and just relax there for a couple of hours. When I get home I’ll be cleaning the kitchen, hoovering, doing the final load of laundry and looking through some work stuff for tomorrow. This evening it’s a cheats roast for dinner (pork steaks with apple sauce, frozen Yorkshire puds and roast veg) then shower, wash and blow dry hair, sort an outfit for tomorrow and make a few days worth of lunches for work. I’m also sad that half term is over. I love my job but love the holidays more!

Beyondamountainandoverthesea · 31/05/2026 11:49

Morning all. We are having a chill day today. Went to visit DS in Bath yesterday and drove for 6 hrs round trip so knackered today. Just had my house buyers round to second view the house so now can chill whilst DH cooks us a roast dinner.

Have a good day all.

Meadowfinch · 31/05/2026 11:50

Cleaning, hoovering, washing, then gardening.

I didn't do any of it yesterday, and I can't start a new week with a dirty house.

Blahblahblahhhhhs · 31/05/2026 11:59

Good morning.
sat in the garden with my book but I have to say it’s a bit chilly.

food shop arrival at 2

I want to tidy DS15 room . I know I will regret it but goodness me it needs some sort of intervention. And holy water probably.

those who remember from yesterday, I managed the videos on booktok and made £30 , which is transferring as we speak, but I’m having a day off it today, if I’m honest it stopped being fun so I’m going to scale it back a bit.

dh at work , dd at work, I’m thinking about the start of term and being back at work tomorrow!

Good morning everyone! What are you all up to today?
LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 31/05/2026 12:04

Tiddlywinks you are Superwoman!

zingally · 31/05/2026 12:28

I'm about to go and and peel some potatoes to sit under the chicken, which we're going to have as a mid-afternoon roast.
For some reason, we're craving a Christmas dinner, so I'm making the works. Even got some pigs in blankets! We don't have a roast very often, as it's a bit of a hassle, but do like to make the effort occasionally.
Once that's in the oven, I think I'll go and do a spot of weeding out the front. I'm also due to do the second dose of liquid weedkiller over a pebbled section next to the driveway. The first dose has done absolute wonders, but you're meant to do a second dose 6 weeks later, which should last until the end of the growing season.
Nothing planned for the rest of the afternoon. Will probably settle down with my book for an hour or so.

lucysmam · 31/05/2026 14:24

@zingally what weed killer is it? I have a peppled bit to do & a path that turns into a carpet of weeds!

DilemmaDelilah · 31/05/2026 14:44

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I only woke up half an hour ago and haven't breakfast yet. If I put it off long enough hopefully it will become brunch and then I will have saved some calories! Mr Dilemma came in to see me a couple of times but I wasn't awake enough to do anything but grunt so he went away again.

I was up late because of watching BGT (in case you hadn't realised my sister and niece are part of the Hawkstone Farmer's Choir 😁). It was very exciting - and very emotional for us - both Mr Dilemma and I had to blow our noses and wipe away tears - and then it took a while for me to settle down enough to go to sleep. My niece is one of the singers who did the beginning duet.

It is going to be several degrees cooler today but I'm still not sure I could face a roast, @lucysmam, I usually boil my gammon and serve it with mashed potatoes, cabbage and onion sauce. There are several benefits:

  • I can put nice stuff in the cooking liquid to flavour the gammon - I use carrots, onion, celery, garlic cloves and bay leaves.
  • The resulting stock can be used to make a delicious lentil (or whatever) soup. I sometimes just freeze some stock to use another time.
  • My family LOVE onion sauce so I usually make several pints. If there is any left over I use it to mix with leftover ham and chicken for an instant fricasee. Again the leftover sauce can go in the freezer to be used another time.
  • There is ALWAYS a use for leftover cabbage and mash!
  • It means the resulting ham is delicately flavoured and not too salty.

Having said all that, I am now beginning to feel hungry, so I can start to think about breakfast/brunch.

I don't have anything at all planned for today. We bought the chairs we were going to get yesterday, Mr Dilemma put them all together (I did the legs, read the instructions and passed things) and he put the old chairs up in the loft. I have a lot of clothes, both mine and his, which need ironing before they can be packed for our holiday. Mr Dilemma would happily do his own but a) he's not actually very good at it, and b) he has a lot of clothes he doesn't think need ironing.... but they absolutely do!!!!! Chinos, for instance. They do at least need to be crease free before they are packed. I can only do a little at a time before my back gives out - so I probably ought to start now.

I haven't thought about what we will eat tonight. I will probably have a ready made cottage pie with cabbage and carrots. Mr Dilemma can have whatever he fancies! I'm doing very little cooking nowadays as I'm using ready meals as part of my diet, for portion control. It means he can have whatever he likes. He has a shoulder of lamb in the freezer, also some faggots, and prawns, and scampi. All things I don't like. There are also portions of meals I cooked in advance and froze, so he's not going to starve. He could have beef stew and dumplings, if he didn't turn his nose up at what he calls leftovers and I call delicious meals, batch cooked and frozen.

Well - that is today's essay written! Have a lovely day everybody, or at least the best day you can.

Simonjt · 31/05/2026 14:45

Good afternoon everyone, how is the wardrobe moving going @lucysmam?

A very lazy and boring day here, our oldest is at the park with some of the neighbourhood children. Our youngest is washing chalk in her outdoot kitchen and smearing it on the slabs, she’s been an absolute pain all day, but shes both happy and quiet doing that so she can crack on. We did make some dough earlier as we’re having pizzas for dinner tonight. Husbands asleep (and snoring very loudly) on the sofa with the dog and cat, the dog is also snoring.

Flyingkitez · 31/05/2026 14:54

Hello all, it’s been a morning of cleaning. Then headed with dd to Starbucks for coolers. Just waiting for the food shop to be delivered. Ds has been doing sport all day. Easy tea of pizza tonight. Enjoy your Sundays all!

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 31/05/2026 16:21

Hi @lucysmam & everyone - just having a very late lunch! Another busy day. Was awake at 5 so went on my phone for a bit then made a cuppa. Made DH one a bit later. I was just starting to relax after a couple of days off so really didn’t want to go into work. It was a bit of a mad shift but went quickly. Popped to Tescos for milk & picked up a bottle of Tanqueray Zero. Then home to start celebrating DD17’s GF’s 18th early. We’re having ribeye steaks, fried eggs & chippy chips for tea whilst watching a film (probably a comedy as hopefully everyone will like that). DD has made chocolate cupcakes & I have number candles to put on those. I did the dishwasher this morning but it needs unloading/loading again. Just noticed that DH has hung the washing out - I didn’t want to risk it earlier as it was a bit cloudy. Much more pleasant now the temperature has dropped & there’s a nice breeze. I didn’t handle the heatwave very well! Bunnies hutches have been cleaned out. Two of them are currently hopping around DH as he tinkers with his bike. Might photograph some more stuff for Vinted. There’s a bagful that needs ironing which DH has offered to do. Feeling relieved to be getting through it all. Hope everyone’s having a good Sunday ☀️😎☀️

gingeristhenewblack43 · 31/05/2026 16:41

@DilemmaDelilahwell done to your sister and niece, and the choir last night. They were sensational. A well deserved win!

Hopefully a show of support for our farmers who are being shafted by this govt.
