Sharing my good news story!

Last month I ordered 3 blouses from a store that kept popping up on Facebook. They were described as linen and were very much my style. The 3 blouses cost almost £100 and I paid using my Monzo account. They were delivered a few weeks ago and they were honestly horrible and 100% polyester.
I messaged the company asking how I could return them and get a refund, but didn’t get a reply. The next day I checked again and their website had completely disappeared.
Anyway, long story short I used the ‘Something wrong, get help function’ on my Monzo account, and after filling in an online form, attaching what little evidence I had, Monzo refunded my money within half an hour! I’m bloody delighted!
This is not an advert for Monzo by the way as I have several bank accounts, but I am seriously impressed.
Anyway, just thought I’d share in case anyone else buys something in good faith that turns out to be fake.

That is good news! It’s lovely when the system actually works

Im afraid I’ve turned into one of those luddites who will only order from an online store if I have been to /past one of their bricks and mortar shops.

Had to go a quick google on "luddite" there. I love reading/learning new words, and this is a good one that I'll use from now on. Thanks!

I has the same service with PayPal. I bought running t shirts from under armour, they didn't fit, so I returned them from the local shop I always use. The courier driver refused to scan a whole collection abd my return "disappeared ".
Under armour refused to refund even though I had my receipts. PayPal refund came in 2 days.

@FancyBiscuitsLevel I’ll do more due diligence after this, especially after googling the ‘bandits’ I found several bad reviews for them on line.

This also works this smoothly with Barclays and PayPal from my experience. I am a prolific online shopper and had a similar scenario once or twice. Isn’t it wonderful when a process works!!!

If ever there's anything advertised on Facebook that I'm thinking about buying, I always check out the company's Trustpilot reviews first. I've nearly been caught out a couple of times by online storefronts that look legit and based in the UK, but are actually in China and the tat they send is nothing like what they're advertising.

That’s awesome!

Abustedflush · 23/05/2026 20:33

@LlamaDuke excellent advice, which I’ll definitely take on board.
