What little acts of rebellion or activism do you do?

I’m not talking about going on marches, but minor things, that you know about.

Mine is I won’t play Michael Jackson songs, after all the alleged behaviour, which certainly wouldn’t be accepted by today’s standards.

The second is I won’t buy McCain products, after they put out an advert for Smileys, which referred to ‘knocker’s’ in them. I thought that language had died out in the seventies.

I have not bought any Ballymaloe products since Darina Allen’s husband Tim was found guilty of having over 1000 child pornography images on a laptop.

AutumnLover1990 · 20/04/2026 07:36

Avoiding buying from companies that gift to "influencers". Looking at you Radfords 😡

queenofwandss · 20/04/2026 07:36

Watching for ideas, I like this thread.

i try not to buy Nestle
I block the Instagram accounts of people associated with Trump or anyone like the kardashians (apparently blocking affects their revenue from platforms?)
I also report every single AI post that is shown to me without my asking on any platform

GloiredeDijon · 20/04/2026 07:41

I agree about Michael Jackson. I can’t listen to the music, which I previously loved, knowing what he did.

(To anybody who still doubts his guilt I would say that after watching the testimony of his victims I 100% know he is guilty. I am a survivor of abuse myself and believe me you can recognise the truth (or lies) in others when you see and hear it.)

It is mind boggling that there are still stage shows, tribute acts etc.

As regards other stuff, well I boycott a variety of companies because of their stance on trans ideology, most specifically Lush but tbh they wouldn’t get my business anyway as their packaging is so ugly so that isn’t hard.

I avoid as much US stuff as I can because Trump his supporters are doing their very best to ruin the world.

I never eat at fast food places like Mc Donald's, KFC etc because they disgust me in a variety of ways.

I post Reform letters and leaflets back to them at their Freepost address so as to cost them money.

Years ago I used to go out and put up anti hunting posters and stickers in the dead of night. Had to be stealthy because I live in a very rural tory area.

Don’t have the chips at Nando’s then as McCain provides all the chips for Nando’s nationwide.

I'm not sure about rebellion

I wouldn't call it activism, but while I mostly use my social media for art and music, I do now follow a few Conservatives. I've muted most of them because I don't want politics in my feed.

I didn't think there was any link between blocking and their revenue

Best get busy blocking all the Greens if that's true (probably can't be bothered though)

ThejoyofNC · 20/04/2026 07:44

Michael Jackson was innocent.

I teach my boys to be manly.

SixSevenShutUp · 20/04/2026 07:53

I block any YouTube channel that uses Karen as a description of a woman arguing with someone. Whatever else they put out is dead to me after that.

Nmss · 20/04/2026 07:54

I have a set of earrings that are only three little green, white and purple gems.

I'm veggi and won't buy halal or kosher (not many local places sell kosher but we live in an area where there are many halal take aways etc) for my family.

Silverbirchleaf · 20/04/2026 07:58

@Nmss Sorry, I don’t know the reasoning behind d your earrings and their colours?

pinkpony88 · 20/04/2026 07:59

Only really relevant to me, but I refuse to go to a really nice local cafe because the owner was mean to my sister at primary school 🤣
My sister eats there… but I won’t 🤭

How do you know he was innocent?

It's the suffragette colours I think?

Tensetickle · 20/04/2026 08:05

I let buses out at junctions whenever I can and stop for pedestrians to cross when there is a traffic island. I have to drive due to disability but it is my little way of supporting pedestrians and public transport

m1ghtl1ke · 20/04/2026 08:15

i won’t buy anything from an shop that has any link to an mlm. I really missed body shop but had to he done

RudolphTheReindeer · 20/04/2026 08:20

I report gambling ads on social media as inappropriate.

This is the kind of low level rebellion that I love 😂

mehday · 20/04/2026 08:22

I turn pro self ID books round on shop shelves if they’re being promoted.

Dollymylove · 20/04/2026 08:24

I endeavour not to use services/companies which have kowtowed to the mob and stopped using Israeli products

Originally for the suffragettes but these days is a nod for women against gender ideology. I have an Adult Woman Female coffee mug 😊

randonneuse · 20/04/2026 08:28

I gave up on Facebook during Molly Russell's inquest and haven't felt remotely tempted to go back. Seeing some facebook/meta CEO (or whatever, I don't remember the details) stand up and defend the videos poor poor Molly had accessed - something just snapped. I thought - no, I want no part in this.

timeforteaandcakes · 20/04/2026 08:28

I also won’t listen to Micheal Jackson music, terrible man.

MardyBra · 20/04/2026 08:30

I avoid Weatherspoons, Dyson and Warburtons, due to their pro Brexit links.

WhatKindOfCake · 20/04/2026 08:31

I won't frequent chain coffee shops, I try to always use small independent places. We need to help small businesses!

Boycotted lush after their attacks on JKR, ditto The Bodyshop, and I'd used their products for decades.

I suppose he never had any surgery and was alabaster white due to "vitiligo" too?

Guilty as the day is long.
