What was your ludicrous Lockdown purchase?

Mine was a £1000 mini trampoline. I think I've probably used it about 30 times altogether! To be fair it is top quality and lots of fun when I can be bothered to use it. I don't regret it.

What about you?

30 tins of corned beef and a very large ball of twine.

Rictasmorticia · 22/10/2025 08:27

A sewing machine

TheNightingalesStarling · 22/10/2025 08:28

An embroidery machine

AnnaMagnani · 22/10/2025 08:28

An Arabian Mau cat.

My old cat died, everyone had gone animal crackers, no rescue kittens anywhere.

Ended up with a mad street cat from Dubai who gave me a serious bite wound (and subsequently penicillin allergy) on day 2.

He's my baby now but honestly I'd lost the plot.

I bet you have an aversion to corn beef now! 😁

A summerhouse. Not technically a lock down purchase as was close to being built in Jan 2020. However haven’t used it since lockdown as it reminds me too much of that time. A top end rowing machine and loads of gym equipment - barely (or never) used. I still have hand sanitiser in the cupboard that I bought in bulk in 2020.

You sewing/embroidery machine buyers - regrets, or have they had lots of good use?

You can use the key on corn beef tins instead of a trolly charm or pound coin

😲I'm glad you stuck with him after that! Scary stuff!

10 tubs of gummy worms

MaJoady · 22/10/2025 08:35

I was too worried about potentially loosing my job to make any big purchases (luckily never happened), but I do have a lot of completed cross-stitches from that time . Never finished one since 😂

sanityisamyth · 22/10/2025 08:36

Pony for my son who couldn’t ride. TBF he learned quickly and ended up winning lots of competitions and they were best friends.

Never had time to properly work it out. We had good intentions, then moved house, and started a business

Shayisgreat · 22/10/2025 08:36

3 different coffee machines - very poor planning on our part!

jokkkshfjjf · 22/10/2025 08:36

A new house so I could have my own office for WFH!

TheNightingalesStarling · 22/10/2025 08:38

You could say our house was a lockdown purchase... we basically changed all our plans for the next few years and bought a house instead, in an area we had never lived in, around a Secondary school we chose online ..

And have no regrets.

youegg · 22/10/2025 08:41

Fucking Joe Wicks’ books.

Christmaspresentsareinthewardrobe · 22/10/2025 08:43

My mum bought me 5 bottles of hob cleaner (amongst other odd purchases). We were shielding so mum did some shopping for us when I couldn't get a slot. I'd text her the list but she always came back with random things that I hadn't asked for. Im still using the hob cleaner.
She also brought 4 bags of pudding rice (none of my dc eat it) the neighbours ended up with them.

Bonjamin · 22/10/2025 08:44

Hundreds of wool squares that I knitted as part of a ‘knit along’ but never got round to stitching up into the finished coronablanket. Still in a plastic box in my office.

I do not regret the Sage coffee machine.

ThePoshUns · 22/10/2025 08:45

One of those beer keg machines. Used once.

Justputsomeyoghurtonit · 22/10/2025 08:48

A second labrador.

I love him to the ends of his little toes. But he is a pita, can't be walked off lead by me despite three times as much training as the older dog, has form for the occasional bite and rolls in fox and human poo on a regular basis when he is out with the dog walker.

£2000 as well. I was drunk when we made the decision..

But he is the cosiest, curliest, sweetest little person and loves me to bits too.

MysticHalfWitch · 22/10/2025 08:50

An original 1960s bar. I do love it though

Mydogisagentleman · 22/10/2025 08:56

Sack of bread flour.
I imagine it is moludering away in the garage.
I made 3 loaves of bread and lost the will to live.
We also have what appears to be a life time stock of cheap J cloth type things.
DH and I were running out of toilet roll.
Wees would be washed and reused, solids would be bagged and binned.
Luckily it didn't come to that

CeeJay81 · 22/10/2025 08:58

A Breadmaker. Think its been used twice. Plus several packs.of bread mixes that were left to go out of date.

Of course not, my old Grandad always said you can never have too many cans of corned beef (he had been in the Army), while my old Granny always said you can never have too many balls of twine (she had been into bondage).
