What to buy in America

I have a trip coming up and should be able to squeeze in some shopping. What should I pick up that is cheaper/you can't get here?

So far, I have the large containers of paracetamol & some melatonin...

Neosporin? Controversial perhaps…

Goldfish crackers. My DD would eat these by the barrel but you can only get them in those overpriced sweet shops here.

The Crest teeth whitening strips. They actually work and you can’t get them over here. Also Differin gel if you suffer or know someone who suffers with acne.

Naproxen.

Trader Joes everything but the bagel/everything but the elote seasonings ~ there's a hype for a reason :)

I spent a small fortune on raising the sweet/chocolate aisle so we can bring out 'cool American snacks' when DS friends come over and because US calories don't count

Depends on where you'll be and what you like, but I enjoyed perusing shops that are mostly online in the UK - feel like I spent a fortune in ON, Alo etc

Vanilla essence. Lots cheaper there than here.
If you make clothes, look at patterns and cotton fabric.

Aquaphor lip balm, Treehut scrubs, defo melatonin, Tylenol with naproxen for back pain, Gatorade bottles, whitening strips, Levi's.
Now if you could bring me back an In&Out burger I'de be in heaven!

Melatonin would also be on my list, I love a bath and bodywork’s hand sanitizer and there car air fresheners are cute. Exchange rates aren’t what they were though!

Big bottle of your pain killer of choice, not necessarily cheaper but so convenient to have a big bottle.
I really miss banana republic so would pop in for some basics.

Does melatonin actually work?

I have a massive toothache right now and as an American I am very grateful to know that I have a big bottle of Advil PM in the cupboard that I bought in Walgreens and will get me through the nights until I can get to the dentist.

I‘m also starting to twitch a little because my melatonin is running low so I would definitely stock up on that too.

And I can’t go to the US without bringing back a few boxes of Cheez-its. Maybe they aren’t for everyone but I absolutely love them.

It does. I really struggle with sleep, have done my whole life, I can’t get to sleep and I wake frequently, melatonin doesn’t stop me waking in the night but really helps me get to sleep. It’s really good for a few nights if you have jet lag too.

Brought back 6 tubs, there are no restrictions on how much you can buy (bad back issues) felt like a crim going through security, but there wasn't a problem. Didn't try to hide them either.
Also Downey tumble dryer sheets, they smell divine.

This might be a bit left field cos all the other recommendations are mainly medication but do you bake? The sugar sprinkles are more vibrant and hold their colour in the oven.

Nothing is cheaper that I found it just unavailable in the UK

We got Covid so got some super strong cold and flu tablets.

We also had these amazing cheese snacks (like nik nak -wostit hybrid) and they are so cheesy! I think they may have been Canadian clear packet with white and blue)

Also Fanta, if you like Fanta and not averse to food additives banned in the UK! It blows in the dark it's wild

Honestly, nothing really these days though melatonin works for some (not me) prices for most things are lower in the U.K. once you factor in tax in the USA (if it's a sales tax free state then it might be worth it)

Do you have DC? Old Navy has really good quality t-shirts with fun pictures. Usually cheaper than supermarkets in the UK but lovely soft material. My DS love them.
For little kids Carters has some super cute baby clothes. You need to make sure it is on half price though.
