Our best buy fridge freezer for value is this 50/50 split Beko. It’s a fantastic no-frills model that will keep your food fresh, whether in the kitchen or an unheated outbuilding. It is also frost-free, an impressive convenience for this price. What's more, if you have a compact kitchen, this slimline appliance will save space without compromising on capacity. 

Despite the warranty only being one year, reviewers commented positively on the long-term reliability and capacity of this model. The shelves and drawers feel sturdy, and the layout is thoughtfully designed. We love the large crisper drawers and the bright LED lighting, which is super helpful for midnight snacks.

The downside is that it doesn't have a water or ice dispenser and smart features like some models, but that's to be expected at this price point.

The price is top-end, but you do get a 10-year guarantee on the motor, so we think it is well worth the investment.

It also has a family-friendly 300-litre capacity, and the intuitive layout maximises the space available. Cold water on tap is a great way to encourage your family to hydrate, so the non-plumbed, easy-to-fill water dispenser is super useful. 

Total No Frost technology means the mess and faff of defrosting can be avoided entirely. We also love the LED lights in the interior, which are super bright without glare, so you’ll be able to find the treats when you’re rummaging for a midnight snack. A few reviewers did note that they would have preferred another drawer in the freezer instead of the easy access shelf, but this was only a small complaint and overall it received fantastic praise.

If you’re all about aesthetics and everything from your tea towels to your placemats has to be stylish, the Smeg FAB30L is a beautiful statement piece that will add a wow factor to your kitchen. It comes in lots of bold colours, but we think this classic cream and glossy chrome interior is the most versatile. Take note that the fridge section is much bigger than the freezer, so if you’re a large family, you may also need to invest in a chest freezer. That said, the ice box still has 72 litres of space.

If you buy lots of meat and fish, the Smeg is an excellent option as the 0°C section will keep it at the same optimum temperature as a supermarket fridge. It also has a sturdy wire rack too, which prevents chunky pop bottles filling up the door space. The fruit and veg box is also fab; it’s generously sized, and the strong seals will protect your goods from the outside air that may cause them to go off quicker.

Our biggest grumble is the cost – it's eye-wateringly pricey and still has to be manually defrosted. However, Mumsnetters say it's worth the expense and effort as Smeg fridge freezers are built to last.

Since the changes to the energy rating system in 2021, it has been tough for an appliance to achieve an 'A' rating, and the LG does just that! This premium fridge freezer has elegant styling and innovative features, and the compressor comes with a superb 20-year guarantee. In addition, it has a chrome bottle rack to free up shelf space, increasing capacity, and a clever folding shelf to stack tubs or store a large joint of meat.

Food, especially fruit and veg, stay fresher for longer in this fridge so there’s less chance of it ending up wasted in the kitchen bin. This is because the motor circulates air, so there are no warm spots, and the door storage is 30% colder than on a standard fridge freezer. NatureFRESH and FRESHconverter tech also automatically create the optimum humidity and temperature for the foods it detects, whether an apple or a piece of fish. The downside? It's the most expensive model on our shortlist.
