Uniqlo winter picks

Created by

Winter is fast approaching and a drop in temperature means a need to dig out our best warm clothing that will keep us feeling stylish, yet cosy.

Uniqlo is such a great brand for winter basics and statement pieces. Its mission statement is to create fashion that is functional. And with their HEATTECH range and fleece-lined clothing, the brand has such an amazing array of warm pieces that don’t compromise on style.

Plus, Uniqlo is loved by our Mumsnetters. Which is why we called on our trusted community to help us choose our top picks for this season - for both women and children. From fail-safe coats to versatile fleece vests and even casual yet cool joggers, this is all you’ll need to keep the cold at bay.

In need of outerwear that is specifically designed to cater for all weather, come rain or shine? Uniqlo offers three different types of Down coats and jackets to choose from:

Ultra Light Down

These are lightweight, breathable and temperature-regulating designs that are ideal for layering and provide reliable comfort in most climates. Plus, they’re easily packable, endlessly portable and perfect for whipping out and layering on top or under other garments when the temperature drops.

Hybrid Down

Combines Uniqlo’s signature down with moisture-absorbing performance padding across a range of coats and parkas. Premium down retains body heat around the front and back of your torso, while high-performing, lightweight insulation padding on the sleeves and sides guarantees a sleek silhouette and freedom of movement.

And finally, Seamless Down.

These stitch-free coats and jackets boast a reliable all-weather design with a water repellent finish that’s made to shut out wind, rain and snow, keeping you warm and dry on the go.

Thermal clothing to keep you warm

Uniqlo has become famed for their revolutionary HEATTECH range. This innovative line harnesses the power of ultra-fine fibres to craft a range of lightweight garments that excel at keeping you snug without the bulk.

The secret behind this remarkable thermal clothing technology lies in its ability to absorb and retain your body’s natural warmth. These fibres, each thinner than a human’s hair width, act as an efficient barrier - trapping air to prevent precious heat from escaping, while simultaneously keeping you comfortably dry.

Like the brand’s Down range, their HEATTECH technology is available across a huge range of items, including classic thermals, Extra Warm thermals (which are 1.5x warmer than classic HEATTECH), Ultra Warm thermals (which are 2.25x warmer), t-shirts and tops, leggings and tights, trousers, socks, and even hats, scarves and gloves.

What Mumsnet users say

Our verdict

Crafted from airy, lightweight fleece, this fleece offers cosy warmth. Effortless care is guaranteed with its machine-washable design, ensuring lasting comfort. The relaxed, versatile fit makes it perfect for indoor lounging or outdoor adventures. Stylish zipper accents add a touch of flair to this functional piece.

Of course, fleece shouldn’t be just for parents. Given that it’s one of the softest and cosiest things you can wear, it’s no surprise that fleece remains a favourite with kids. Uniqlo’s kids’ fleece collection brings windproof designs with high neck collars for all kids, which are ideal for keeping them warm on cold days.

Bring out the knitwear

Of course, no autumn winter wardrobe is complete without a knitwear refresh. Uniqlo offers an elegant collection of knitted jumpers and cardigans, which include pure cashmere jumpers as well as incredibly soft Extra Fine Merino wool and Premium Lambswool jumpers.

I love their knitwear. 100% lambswool jumper - I have this in 2 colours. Ultra fine merino knit cardigan - I've just got one in navy and I love it so much.

Their 3D Knit range also shouldn’t be ignored, as well as the brand’s signature Soufflé Yarn knitted jumpers and cardigans that have been crafted for long-lasting comfort and statement flair in the colder months.
