What do you use instead of a highchair when you go camping???

Ds4 is far to figdety to eat sitting on my lap and I can't imagine a booster seat will work on a fold up camping chair so I'm flummoxed.

I'm sure MN will have the solution....

he'll be about 18 month when we go, I doubt the table won't hold his weight in a clip on one becausehe;s a chunk now and the thought of letting him feed himself in the buggy makes me want to cry.

i dont think there is anything on the market that would be suitable then

will he be able to sit up by himself and eat just sat on the floor? maybe take some pillows so it is more comfy for him?

Buy an Antilop & take it with you? that's what we did for the 12month old. The legs come off for transport, surprisingly compact.

Ds2 is 18 months and has decided that a highchair is beneath him. He doesn't seem to be happy if he can actually reach his dinner! Perhaps ds4 will sit on a 'normal' chair too.

Just sitting on the ground? What will the rest of you be using to eat? Sorry, I only ask as the suggestions will vary depending on whether you're doing the home-from-home camping complete with tables and chairs, or the back to basics camping with a picnic rug on the ground.

From my experiences of camping little children get very hungry spending so much time outdoors and so generally want to eat, so will sit still eating for longer than they might at home. You may find he fidgits less.

I go with the option of always offering healthy snacks to eat, rather than the three meals ds would get at home.

he'd be out of that is 2 seconds flat, we tried one when he was alot less agile and it didn't work then so theres no hope now.

oh no...he'd eat anything I gave him but I wantto be able to contain him in one place with the food, otherwise it'll be smeared over all over the tent and everything else in 100 mtre radius

I quite fancy a trip to IKEA and my nearest one asctually has the sntilop in stock so I might get one of those.

Thats what I thought about getting originally but it need to be ona chair and the chairs we have are fold up/low level beach chairs so it wouldn't work on them.

For dd's first camping trip we put her on a tarp on the ground and the food with her. The tarp just got washed down under the standpipe in the field, clipped to the side of the tent with clothes pegs to blow dry in the wind. Use a big enough tarp and it's not hard to pull them back onto it, if they start straying.Easy. We didn't eat inside the tent anyway - strict rules for inside the tent - no eating, drinking and shoes (if worn at all) off. Any help?

When DS2 was 16 months and we went camping in France we fed him in his buggy - easy.
