thanks @SilverBlue4

DD said History AQA was a shocker today. I’m trying to sympathise at the same time as telling her to forget it and focus on the next one (Thursday).

Ventress · 19/05/2026 20:04

DS did history today (OCR) and said it was “hard but good”. I think he’s feeling pretty good about it. He likes history 2 far more and has always done better on p2. Fingers crossed.

DS has no more exams until after half term.

Good luck to the physicians and geographers for tomorrow 🤞

BlackBean2023 · 19/05/2026 20:19

DD had History Edexcel (Russia) today. Her appraisal was ‘meh’.
Not great as it’s the subject she’s hoping wants to do at Uni and grade boundaries for Histoy are always high 😮‍💨

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/05/2026 20:22

Thanks for the new thread!

Ds is doing physics @justherewithmypopcorn but doesn’t start his exams until june 1st. WJEC

Second day of study leave and he went into town to sort his prom suit out! He did make a very good choice and still got through his planned revision for today!

Next 2 history papers for dd are better as well. Lots of fingers crossed. One more exam this week then we’re half way. A couple of days off are in order over the weekend.

MiniMidiMaxi · 19/05/2026 21:44

Failed to post here when I tried before, so now place marking! Thanks for the new thread @SilverBlue4.

Fabfabfab · 19/05/2026 21:45

Have hopefully managed to add DC's details to the spreadsheet. History offer at Durham: AstarAA

wonderstuff · 19/05/2026 22:13

Thanks for new thread. I’ve added dd to the spreadsheet, could it be linked to this thread too? I like the idea of a mid point bbq, will suggest to DH. Feels like so much going on right now, work is crazy and I’ve dropped some balls, DFIL in hospital, I’m waiting on a biopsy result (which I’m sure will be fine, but still a worry) DD is quite stressed and DS is doing GCSEs. None of these things are terrible, but it is a lot!

ComingInByAnsible · 19/05/2026 22:18

Thanks for the new thread, @SilverBlue4! Checking in.

Haven’t been able to edit the spreadsheet but DS wants to do PPE at Warwick and he needs AstarAA. He is at halfway point through his exams (4 down, 4 to go).

Was reasonably happy with history today (crusades) though ran out of time a bit. Next up human geography on Thursday.

Good luck to those with exams tomorrow!

TeenLifeMum · 19/05/2026 22:26

Lovely to see this thread. Dd had her first exam this morning - ancient history, Greeks. She said it was a good paper and she enjoyed the essay questions except one 12 marker but hopes she made up for that one in the other questions.

I checked on Saturday she had everything she needed and she confidently said yes… 9.35pm last night she discovered she couldn’t find her clear pencil case or water bottle 🙄. She did find the pencil case and I stayed totally zen and said it’s not a problem I’ll pop to the supermarket to get a clear water bottle (she has a cough and a tendency to faint so going without water wasn’t an option).

Muchtoomuchtodo · 19/05/2026 22:29

Sorry, no idea how to do this on my phone!

ComingInByAnsible · 19/05/2026 22:30

That sounds a lot @wonderstuff. Hope good biopsy news come quickly and DFIL recovers soon. How are GCSEs going? We had a scare with DD the other day with a call from school to say DD was feeling sick and didn’t start her chemistry exam with the others. Thankfully they kept her separated until she felt better and was able to start in a separate room. But it was a nerve-wrecking hour! I know what you mean about dropping balls at work, they are falling here left, right and centre…

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 20/05/2026 05:31

@ComingInByAnsible I’ve added you in. I’m awake at an ungodly hour so thought I’d do something useful! Hope your DD is OK after her false start on her exam.

@wonderstuff that is a lot going on, you must be feeling very stressed. I hope. The out come of the biopsy is good news and your FIL is home soon. It’s easy to drop the ball at work when you are juggling so much, so don’t beat yourself up too much. 💐

BlackBean2023 · 20/05/2026 06:07

@wonderstuffdon’t beat yourself up about dropping balls - you have a LOT on!

4/9 exams done here now and no more until 2nd June so a bit of breathing space. I’m hoping that DD can keep up the momentum of revision although I’m fairly sure I heard her on the phone yesterday talking about a foam party…

Ventress · 20/05/2026 07:13

Countrylife2002 · 19/05/2026 21:38

Which subject was it ?

For history 2? It’s Cold War. History 1 was Tudors, which he’s not so keen on (the paper structure as well as the content I think). He did well in NEA though so fingers crossed. He needs 3 A’s for UCL.

how did your daughter do?

Ventress · 20/05/2026 07:29

I’ve added DS’s required grades to the spreadsheet - thank you for this. @SilverBlue4 but they’ve come in as bold. Apologies, not sure why or how to fix!

Good luck to everyone with exams today. You have got this!

I’m sorry to hear about your your dfil @wonderstuff💐 I hope you get a break soon.

To those who are feeling poorly, I hope you feel a bit better today.

We give DS rescue remedy, berrocca and anti-nausea meds. He’s a bit of a mess before exams but not feeling ill fortunately. He’s completed 4 out of 7 so over half way now.

hels71 · 20/05/2026 08:18

Found you! Hello. Second exam on Friday, textiles paper 1, followed by a leavers event.... Then 5 after half term.

hels71 · 20/05/2026 08:22

Can't work out how to edit the spreadsheet... technology is NOT my strong point! She's accepted an offer at Rose Bruford to do scenic arts. Needs 64 UCAS points ....

Rumplestiltz · 20/05/2026 08:26

Aqa Tudor history yesterday sounded…challenging. Quite niche questions. But onwards!

SilverBlue4 · 20/05/2026 08:59

I think the spreadsheet may be easy if you're on android and have Google sheets, but possibly not so easy on an iPhone (can't check as I haven't got one!)

OP posts:
JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 20/05/2026 09:01

I’m on iPhone and just downloaded the app, very easy to do then.

JustHereWithMyPopcorn · 20/05/2026 09:05

@hels71 Can I ask what scenic arts is please? In my head it’s like stage sets and design.
