Even if you're not heading off to Glastonbury this weekend, there are plenty of other festivals and fairs around the country to enjoy - from village fetes to weekend events.

CoCoMAD Kings Norton and Cotteridge CocoMad 2014

With live music, food and drink, community stalls, family crafts, treats and activities, plus the Stitch and Beech Marquee to enjoy, get down to Cotteridge Park on July 5. Have a go at archery, jump around on the bouncy castle and more.

 

Splendour Festival Nottingham Splendour festival

The Splendour Festival will return to Wollaton Park on Saturday 19 July 2014. Headline acts and other artists for three music stages will be announced over the next few weeks but already include the Happy Mondays, Tom Odell, Scouting for Girls and the Boomtown Rats.

After the success of Sixties by the Sea, Aldeburgh plays host to another free, charity, open air, live music concert. Acts will perform a selection of soul music, with plenty of outlets selling food and drink.

Kilburn's Annual Festival will be taking place this year on Sunday 13 July at Kilburn Grange Park. Enjoy local music, dance and a variety of stalls offering everything from food and drink to jewellery, as well as information from community organisations.

The Crystal Palace Festival is a free, family-friendly, community arts and music festival run by a team of dedicated volunteers. It was launched in 2007 by the Upper Norwood Triangle traders and has gone from strength to strength, with more than 6,000 people attending last year's event. Events will include Toddle in the City, a tea dance, the Magical Sprite Village, Electric Palace Open Air Cinema and a big party in Westow Park.

Ealing Jazz Festival is celebrating it's 30th anniversary this year. Enjoy five days of music, with big band favourites, funky Latin tunes, jazz and funk fusion, bebop, hard bop, contemporary jazz and more.

 

Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta GreenwichRoyal Greenwich regatta

Up to 50 ships will gather in Royal Greenwich for four days of festivities between 5 to 9 September 2014. The ships will be berthed along the River Thames and there will be activities for crew and visitors, as well as opportunities to visit the ships.

Kidsfest, now in its eighth year, offers something unique and inspirational for all ages. A great family day out, there are lots of activities and workshops to enjoy, and best of all everything is totally free!

This free event features two days of live music, including appearances from Bob the Builder and Mr Bloom, sport and children's activities. The Newham Seaside also returns with helter skelter, paddling pool, donkey rides and even a real beach!

The big purple cow is back for a moo-vellous sixth year! This year shows include circus performance A Simple Space, juggling like you've never seen it before from Smashed, hit comedians Omid Djalili, Tony Law, Susan Calman and Marcus Brigstocke, and old favourites Comedy Club 4 Kids and Comedy in the Dark.

 

Belmont Festival SuttonBelmont festival

This festival will be held in the heart of Belmont Village and stretch from the main shopping area (Station Road), through the grounds of St John's Church and into the park adjacent to Belmont Rise. New for this year wil be live music and dance shows on the main stage, numerous side stalls, a street market, a licensed beer tent and food for all the family.

 

Roman Road Festival BowRoman Rd festival

Roman Road Festival is a new week-long free festival in the East End of London showcasing the best of Roman Road in Bow. The opening Sunday will be a day of talks and trails to kick off a week-long programme of arts, culture, music, food, comedy and family entertainment. The week finishes with the closing Sunday on 6 July, a spectacle of live music, food, a creative market fair, street entertainment and live Wimbledon finals coverage.

 

Walthamstow Garden Party WalthamstowWalthamstow garden party

Two days of music, theatre, arts and crafts, food and family activity in Walthamstow's beautiful Lloyd Park. Walthamstow Garden Party will celebrate the borough's creative and cultural communities. It will make full use of the spaces and landscape of Lloyd Park and be inspired by the principles of William Morris, the radical Victorian craftsman who called Walthamstow home.

 

Northcote Road Summer Fete Wandsworth CommonSummer fete

There will be lots of games and fairground rides on offer at this fete, including ping pong, bouncy castle, giant jenga, spinning teacups, toy-set roundabout, giant inflatable penalty-shoot out, and a 70ft-long Astroglide slide. The performance stage will have music, dance and entertainment throughout the day, and there'll be coverage of the men's final day at Wimbledon. All funds raised will go to Ickle Pickles, which supports neonatal units throughout the country.

 

City of London Festival Westminster and CityCity of London festival

The City of London Festival 2014 features a selection of children's theatre and comedy in a new pop-up venue. The Bowler Hat is an inflatable 200-seat theatre right next to St Paul's Cathedral, shaped like a giant, three storey-high bowler hat!

Blissfields Festival WinchesterBlissfields festival

Winner of Best Small Festival at the UK Festival Awards, Blissfields is back on 4, 5 and 6 July 2014. Line up includes: 2manyDJs, Sleigh Bells, Hercules and Love Affair, Dan Croll, Tuneyards, Johnny Flynn, Spector and many more. Don't miss the Fields of Bliss Spa, and the Blisscotheque. Angel Gardens family area will have a cabaret tent, kids entertainers, dance, drama, yoga, music and general daftness. Meet ponies and join in with a mass birthday party.

 

Fire Engine Rally DartfordFire engine rally

The weekend will showcase the history of fire-fighting, with 20 fire engines and carts on display from the Victorian hose carts of the 1890s to those of the present day. The fire engine from the London's Burning show (1998 – 2001) will also be on display. As well as watching live fire displays, younger visitors will be able to meet Fireman Sam, who will be showing children how fire engines operate, with the opportunity to actually squirt the hoses!

 

Wilderness Festival CharlburyWilderness festival

A glorious weekend escape in the beautiful environs of Oxfordshire's Cornbury Park. Alongside the eclectic line-up of musicians, chefs and banquets, theatre, literature, debate, craft and spa, there are fun activities for the whole family, such as archery, wild swimming, boating, and horse riding. Visit the Charles Dickens Museum, transporting families into the Dickensian wonders of Victorian England with its workshops, while the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre recreate the evergreen classic Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There will also be overnight camps in the forest for young hunter-gatherers (eight to 12 years old), and den building with the Eden Project, where children can learn to build their own shelters in the woods.

Portsmouth's hugely popular Victorious Festival returns. Suitable for all the family, there is a kids arena where you can meet the Moshi Monsters, as well as circus skills, facepainting, the jungle bus, street performer Will Gibson wil be balloon modelling, knife juggling and more. There is also a family chill out zone, with toilets and baby changing facilities.

Let's not forget the great line up with Dizzee Rascal, Shed Seven,Sophie Ellis Bextor, Scouting for Girls, Ocean Colour Scene and Will Odell! New acts are being added so keep checking the website for the latest line up details.

With a boutique market, a real ale festival and the kids arena what more could you ask for? Well how about free entry to the D Day museum, Southsea Castle, the Blue Reef aquarium, Southsea Skate Park and Pyramids fun pool with a valid ticket.

 

Wings and Wheels Godalmingwings and wheels

Wings & Wheels returns to Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey (home to BBC's Top Gear) on 23rd & 24th August 2014. Celebrating its 10th anniversary with 5 hours of thrilling aviation displays including visitor favourites; the Red Arrows, BBMF, Apache Helicopter, and Avro Vulcan, it also includes a Wheels Zone of modern day supercars and classic and vintage favourites performing exciting demonstrations and stunts.

Visit the Zones for living history and re-enactment battles, emergency services demonstrations, car displays, laser quest, paintballing, kit-plane demonstrations, aviation and motoring simulators, military outlets, static aircraft, fairground and over 80 retail outlets selling a wide variety of products and gifts. As the last plane touches down the party starts across the arena with a mix of musical evening entertainment. There's something for all the family the whole weekend!

 

Southampton Maritime Festival SouthamptonSouthampton maritime festival

During this two-day event many historic ships and vessels will be making their way into dock to join the festival. On land you and little ones can also explore a large number of attractions and demonstrations over the course of two days. The quayside will be packed with kids activities, a funfair and exhibits including historic cars, classic steam vehicles and heritage trams. Friday is our special 'families day' and a perfect summer holiday boredom buster. Well be having a kids focus with lots to do and we hope to bring news of an exciting special appearance by CBBC characters soon!!!

With over 12,000 visitors last year, the event really is a highlight of the summer calendar.

This charity heritage event is organised by the Southampton Heritage Federation spearheaded by the Maritime Archaeology Trust

The Bournemouth Air Festival is back on 28th August 2014-31st August 2014.

We can now confirm that the iconic Avro Vulcan XH558 will be displaying at this year's Bournemouth Air Festival!

The incredible Red Arrows will be displaying on all 4 days of the Festival! Alongside the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, awesome RAF Typhoon and Army Lynx Mk7, more aircraft and display teams will be confirmed over the coming weeks, please check the website for updates.

More than just an airshow, the 1.5 mile Festival site is located between Bournemouth and Boscombe Piers, including the East Overcliff.

The Royal Navy & Army will again be demonstrating their land sea and air capabilities with a number of great static and interactive displays as well as a 4 ship fleet in the bay.

There will be live music at the Boscombe and Bournemouth stages as well as entertainment and fireworks in the town.
