Who camped in Cornwall this summer is it really worth the money?

Debating whether to go to Trevornick campsite with family next summer, or abroad for the guaranteed sun we've had for the last 3 years. Am staggered that a week camping in Cornwall will set us back at least £1000 - £600 for tent, then petrol, food etc. If it chucks it down, what a lot of money for being damp!! Has anyone been and can really sell it to me?

We went this year and were really lucky we had sunshine and no rain, the campsite had an outdoor pool which we used every day,we visited tintagel castle and lots of gorgeous little coves and fishing villages it really was beutiful, i personally think if you get the weather cornwall is much nicer than going abroad however cornwall has lots of rain thats why its so green.

Costagirl £600 for tent? Sure you could camp in Cornwall cheaper. I'm originally from Bude (N Cornwall) and had a little look - you could get a static caravan at Upper Lynstone (beautiful area near fantastic beach) for £400-500 in summer hols, or pitch a tent for £20 a night plus £4 per additional adult and £3 per child.

Having said I'm spoilt as my parents still live there, so if it rains when we go we have the benefit of a normal house with all mod cons rather than a tent or a holiday cottage with 3 old books and a Scrabble set with half the tiles missing.

TBH when we have the money we go abroad - but then we do have the luxury of being able to get a little bit of Cornwall whenever we like. (Sorry!)

The initial outlay with camping isn't cheap. If you are only planning to camp for 1 weeks holiday, you probably are better looking at a static caravan or a holiday cottage.

We stayed in a holiday cottage near Bude last year for about £500 for the week. Not cheap but less than we have spent getting all our camping equipment together this year. You don't need to spend anywhere near £600 on a tent though!

Cornwall is lovely. I have been lots of times before the ds's were born and we took them last year. Weather was fairly lousy but we still spent alot of time on the beach, the boys loved it.
