Smiggle Advent Calendar?

Thoughts?

Dd 9 has had Playmobil ones up until last year, but I think she's probably a bit old for another one. I was hoping they might bring out a Lego Elves one as she is obsessed with them but no such luck. I have now come up with the Smiggle one as an alternative and it has just been released online at £28.,... Is it worth it? She loves Smiggle stuff so just wondered those who've bought it previously what your thoughts/ Dc's reactions were?

Don't want to ask her as I want it to be a surprise on December 1st.

£28 for a flipping advent calendar?!

I've twice bought it for myself as an adult Blush it should show you what's in it online or if you can get to a shop. Lots of little stationery bits. I'd say it's a winner!

I'm going to make my own. On the bargain thread there is a stationary advent box and they just use a box (obviously) and sweet bags with stickers on. You can then add whatever you want.

DD loved hers last year

I bought one last year for DD who was then 7. She liked it because she likes stationery, but no more than than enjoyed Lego or similar. To be honest I wasn't that impressed and wouldn't bother again because some of the items were poor. I'd suggest a DIY one where you buy a little stationery type gift for each of the numbered pouches.

I'm not being grinch-y about it - it was nice enough but just a bit 'meh' some days. There were a couple of nice items, like a keyring with beads that spell out Smiggle, just seemed more style over substance.

My two had one to share and they loved it! They alternated days of opening it and traded some of the bits between themselves; there were some nice stationery things in there

I've just gone and ordered it today with 20% off as its my first on line order with them (sign up via their website) and also went through top cash back with about 8 % cash back I think it was. It's the first time I've bought an expensive advent calendar. Usually do chocolate so we shall see.....

That was my worry about ordering online- luckily we have a new store not too far away! Hopefully they'll send you a replacement

I've been buying Smiggle stuff for DD for a while now (not the advent) and tbh some of their items are just not worth it. I'm talking about pens that run out too quickly, pencils that are difficult to sharpen Confused.
I prefer a DIY calendar. DD has had one for the past five years. I fill the pockets with stationery bits I collect during the year.
WH Smiths have great stationery items, erasers...mini notes. Mix them with a few selective Smiggle and Tiger Store bits and imo you have a more personalised calendar

we got the Tinc advent for dd3 last year. (She is not a big smiggle fan it is too colourful for her) That was really great she loved it. I am planning on sending my friends 2 girls the smiggle ones for this year as they both love it.

Bit the bullet and bought instore today - actually looks really good and I'm sure Dd will be thrilled on 1st Dec. Cost me £22.40 with 20% discount, and the woman instore showed me everything that is in it. Was pleasantly surprised at the large size of it.

I'm thinking of getting this for DD age nearly 7.
Thise who have it already, what kind of things are in it?

From memory: smelly rubbers drink can shaped, slap band wristband, gel pens, small set of coloured pencils, foldable ruler, yo yo, key ring type multicoloured pen, other rubbers, fridge magnet,

Sorry can't remember anymore but seemed a lot of stuff.

DD had a Smiggle one last year and loved it, she was 8 nearly 9 at the time. DS has asked for Smiggle this year and am still looking for an alternative for DD. Might try doing a personalised/customised one. But I know what I'm like and it will probably end up costing me more.

I've been in the smiggle shop today and was wondering about this calendar for my 2. Still undecided. Will see if I can find the bargain thread and do my own!

I sincerely hope the Smiggle calendar improves as it goes along this year as I decided to push the boat out and treat DS to one as part of his birthday present. He was somewhat disappointed to find a bag of bits that should have been a yoyo. I did have a quick look to see if I could put it back together but part of the internal structure is sheared off so it's a bin job! I ordered the calendar online but it arrived undamaged and there are no marks on the packaging so it must have been put into the calendar in that state! Angry

You are not alone! The yo yo is rubbish. All three of ours broke within seconds / minutes as they unfurled mid-air. My DCs all in tears.

Two children from DCs school reported the same this morning. I have complained to smiggle - had no response yet.

Can't find it on the website myself but below was posted on a local Facebook page earlier:

"From the smiggle page:
VIP MESSAGE FOR ALL ADVENT CALENDAR FANS!
We've had some customers contact us in Australia this morning to say their first gift in the Smiggle Advent Calendar is broken and want to give our UK Smigglers the heads up!
We are so disappointed to hear this as we can assure you that the samples we have tested and approved on this product all met our high Smiggle standards!
We know how exciting this day is for our fans and we absolutely do not want to disappoint any of our young fans or their parents. So if you have opened your advent calendar today and the product is not functioning as it should, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we'll help resolve this for you. Alternatively, we also welcome you to visit a smiggle store where we will happily replace your yoyo for another product of the same or higher value, simply bring in your faulty yoyo to exchange
From, the team at Smiggle."

Mine had no problems with theirs, but it went to school today so will be interesting to see if it makes it home in one piece.
