LOVALL maternity leggings review: a style for every bump
You'd be hard-pressed to find a Mumsnet thread asking for leggings recommendations without someone mentioning the LOVALL brand - formerly known as Love Leggings - and the same goes for maternity leggings. We put three of their top styles through their paces with the help of parent-tester Cath.

Available in a huge number of colours and patterns as well as different lengths, sizes and styles, these everyday maternity leggings tick all the boxes.
Our tester was particularly impressed with the softness of the fabric, the quality and how well they wash, reporting that their shape held well every after several washes.
Though cheaper maternity leggings are available, Cath said that on reflection she thought they represented good value for money due to their versatility and quality.

LOVALL Loungewear Maternity Leggings
Features a contrasting over-the-bump panel which is nice and stretchy
Not see-through or baggy at the knee
Great for prenatal yoga
Not as much choice of colours or styles as the everyday leggings
Our tester reported that the over-bump panel felt tighter than other maternity leggings
Price on writing: £32 | Sizes available: 6 - 28, Petite - Tall | Colours available: Black, dark grey, light grey, berry
Priced slightly higher than the everyday leggings, the loungewear maternity leggings offer a contrasting support panel which provides a bit of extra support while still feeling comfortable and secure.
Cath particularly like these leggings for yoga classes, saying that she felt very confident participating in the class while wearing them. She also praised the leggings for how well they wash and hold their shape.
While the support panel felt a little tighter than other maternity leggings, Cath reported that they had a little more stretch than the other two pairs of LOVALL leggings, and said that if she knew for sure that they would still fit comfortably when full-term, she would consider them good value for money.
I do not usually spend £32 on a pair of leggings so I would struggle with the price initially. However, If I could guarantee that I was able to wear them until full term, then I would buy them because they are such high quality, comfortable to exercise in and I like the design.

LOVALL Winter Maternity Leggings
Great range of colours and sizes
Very good quality
Wash well and keep their shape
Not suitable for warmer months
Over-bump panel not as stretchy as other styles
Price on writing: £32 | Sizes available: 6 - 28, Petite - Tall | Colours available: Black, burgundy, brown, grey, green, blue
If your pregnancy falls over the cooler months, you can't go wrong with a pair of these. Our tester - who tried them out over January and February - loved the fleece lining and the thickness of her pair and said that even though they were thicker she could still comfortably wear them tucked into her winter boots.
While the leggings fitted Cath very well during her second trimester, she pointed out that the over-bump panel felt particularly snug with this pair and that she wasn't sure if they would still fit so well at full-term.
They are very good quality and lovely and warm but the usual leggings I buy cost £15. From the point of view of them being warm, soft and opaque, they could be worth the money for some.

How we tested
Our tester Cath tried out all three pairs of LOVALL maternity leggings over a period of three weeks from 19 - 22 weeks of pregnancy. During this time she took extensive notes assessing each pair for comfort, stylishness, practicality, value for money and sizing accuracy.
When can you start wearing maternity leggings?
There's no hard and fast rule about when is best to start wearing maternity leggings. With many designed with comfort in mind, it's really just a case of finding which pair suits you best and - mostly importantly - feels comfortable.
Are pregnancy leggings worth it?
For a lot of maternity wear, it is possible to simply go up a couple of sizes in regular clothes, particularly when it comes to smock dresses or oversized T-shirts. However, when it comes to leggings it is advisable to invest in a couple of pairs that are maternity.
As maternity leggings have a specifically designed waistband, they'll stretch to accommodate your growing bump and will therefore hold their shape. The band will also help to cover your bump and keep it supported. However, if you do find that regular leggings are still doing the job, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t continue to wear them, as long as you feel comfortable.
