I have a new hobby. It’s expensive. It’s addictive. It always leaves me wanting more.
Actually, strictly speaking it’s not a new hobby - I’ve been regularly aiming at plastic sticks between my legs for around 2 years now - my new hobby is blogging about it.
Peeing on sticks - an unfortunate side effect of trying to conceive - is a pastime which provokes a lot of thoughts, some funny, quite a lot of them sad, a few so hilarious that you could wet your knickers when there’s not even a stick down there, and one or two downright distressing.
My husband (Mr. PF) and I have been trying for a baby for around about 2 years now. Sorry - who am I kidding? It’s exactly 2 years, to the day. I came off the pill on my 30th birthday - I’m 32 tomorrow. A couple of months ago we found out that, to quote our consultant, our ”only chance of having a biological child is through IVF”.
Despite this we are still going to try and beat the odds and have a baby naturally whilst waiting for our 1st IVF cycle, which is why I was peeing on a Ovualtion Predictor Kit stick this morning (no LH surge line today, just in case you were wondering. Not that I’m assuming that you were wondering as sometimes I even forget to check myself - I pee and then go off to brush my teeth and get in my bath and then get out 10 mins later, see the stick and then wonder if the result is still valid).
So to sum up my situation and conclude my first post (I’ll not count the “Hello World!” post that accidently got posted a few minutes before when I couldn’t work out what to do), “Sticks I have pee’d on - the trials and tribualtions of TTC” is a blog about exactly that (no big fold-out leaflet with 10 FAQs and a helpline number required for you to work this out) - trying to get pregnant. Why not try Persona? OK, I know it’s more sticks to pee on, but they’re reliable, and a great indicator of when you’re ovulating - so you know EXACTLY what days to shg - ‘course you can shg any other days as well, but that’s just for fun…
I’m known to rant… or is it waffle? But I also know lots of mummies who were told the same thing; and got there without the IVF, mostly by the same non drug means. If you want to chat, it’ a boring solution (getting your body to a really healthy place), but I know lots (or at least, i’ve read more than you can imagine, written by other people who know lots), and I’d be more than happy to chat… but it’s too much to write down. Can provide supporting evidence that it works

PS. Hope you’re buying your sticks on ebay. they’re only about 20p each that way…
You are right, it’s quite an expensive and obsessive hobby. Mine is pregnancy tests. I am not convinced of their negative reply so I sometimes open the bin and check them again…just in case they have turned out positive!
