Following on from the call for quilters and knitters here, this thread is for those who would like to in contribe a square so that we can make a quilt for EdgarAleNPie and her family.

Your square needs to be:

7" square
cotton or polycotton
pre-washed to avoid shrinkage
zigzagged or overlocked around the edges, if possible
Any colour
If appliqued, using cotton
Can be embroidered
Any design to be in the central 6" square
Can send plain squares too

Details regarding posting, etc, to follow.

Many thanks.

I'm better at piecing than applique. Is that alright? Have just had idea about foundation piecing, which may or may not work, will have to have a play.

Also, I can do extra squares if needed.

Cobwebs, that would be lovely Smile.

A few squares would really help boost our running total. Thanks to you too, MoveIt.

can i do a crochet granny square?
I can't knit.
(or quilt)

(Nickel you don't need to be able to quilt. We're just gathering the squares and someone else will stitch them together and quilt them.

And yes, we're doing knitted/crochet blanket too. I'll find the link.)

So for example:

7" cotton square with a heart stitched on

or a star, moon, sun, bird, flower...

Nickel, if you can make your own wedding dress, an appliqued square will be a breeze. Smile

And we need a few more!

Does each square need to be appliqued? I have some lovely printed kids fabric so could send one square of that and one appliqued one for example.

Or I'm happy to do two appliqued ones if you want them all with something on (I can't embroider).

KnottyLocks · 21/03/2011 14:48

No, 'plain' ones are great too. One of each would be perfect. Thanks.

Sorry to be cross-posting.

I've PM'd Pixie to say I'm happy to contribute multiple squares from a piece of African printed fabric (predominantly yellow, with orange and indigo). It's 48 x 60 cm (18 x 23 inches), so can do six hemmed, 7-inch squares.
