Not sure if you are interested but an new coffee shop is opening in Australia. It's using very sexulized images of women to sell it's products but doesn't think women should be offended.

Outrage is better then a cup of coffee to wake me up.

Just wow.

Not only using over sexualised of women images to sell coffee, but also using drug terminology and paraphernalia. I agree with several of the posters on their FB site, that their advertising team is obviously made up of porn obsessed teenagers, who smoke crack.

did you see this photo?

It's pornography, please report it. Fb doesn't allow fucking BF photos but that is OK?!

Report
ReallyFuckingFedUp · 03/06/2014 14:39

notice it was published under #spankfriday. That's pathetic

I reported it. FB has said they won't be taking it down. Breast feeding photos ger removed, but a PORN shot on a site for 13 year olds of a woman touchign herself is OK.

Fuck you facebook. Seriously. FUCK YOU. This might actually be what finally gets me off that bloody site. arseholes

Is this for real - it's so bad it could be a parody!

All publicity is good publicity in our woman-hating, hypersexualised world. Unfortunately.

But is it anyfucker? I'm trying to think of who I see in coffeeshops.. and it's always women. Yes, the odd male student, nursing a cofee and stealing the Wifi and not spending any money... but overwhelmingly it seems to be women meeting up with each other. Probably because it's not full og blokes and they can relax with out being hassled. SAHM's looking for a comfy place to BF..

The people they are selling to in those adverts are 20 something misogynist males who prefer coffee to beer. Is that a massive demographic?

Report
AnyFucker · 03/06/2014 22:19

There are quite a lot of women that hang out with 20 something misogynist males that wouldn't have a problem with that kind of advertising. Unfortunately.

There's no location, only a PO box so I don't see it being a real business.

Report
ReallyFuckingFedUp · 03/06/2014 23:06

Apparently they will give the location when they get a 1000 likes Hmm some sort of marketinng ploy (assuming they are real)

Hazchem · 03/06/2014 23:23

I reported it too Really . I can't believe facebook think it's ok. I showed the picture to my partner and he was like huh huh really shocked and totally shocked when I said it was an add for a coffee shop.

It appears to track back to a real company of a different name. I assume its an extreme shock marketing ploy of a distribution company.

Same general reaction from DH, another male they've alienated. While I agree generally with AF's assertion that misogyny sells I do think they have gone too far in this case and that their customer base of Nutz magazine readers and ladette girlfriends are not the people who actually hang out in those places. Even if you get past the sexism you have the casual drug references. Does Oz not have any kind of advertising standards body?

Report
Hazchem · 04/06/2014 09:43

There is also further down some with racist overtones. Much subtler then the sexist and drug ones but you don't need to think about it too much.
We do have a board but I;m not sure it has much bite. we also have a Minister for women but that is a man.

The links are redirecting for me so I assume it's finally been taken down.

I can no longer access the FB page. I didn't comment, so it's unlikely that I have been blocked, does this maybe mean that FB have given their heads a wobble?

I can't see it either. I've contacted Destroy the Joint to see if they know what happened.

It's back up fresh one they have made an apology or more correctly they have blamed minority women for not getting the advertising and shouting about it. Oh and it appears I have been banned from commenting on their page. I wasn't even very shouty just pointed out they were not fresh and used the #Yesallwomen

That has to be the most ridiculous apology I've ever read from adults! They are still getting a pasting though, from the 'tiny' minority of people who don't think as they do.

Report
Hazchem · 07/06/2014 23:17

I think they may have underestimated how large the minority is.
