A blog about the thread that was on here.
Agree with the comment underneath about anal to vaginal penetration being the perfect breeding ground for a urinary tract infection Sad

The Invisible Men Project is still going.

And it's important to keep it going.

I feel physically sick at the man describing how much pain the woman was in and how 'sensational' it was.

Someone linked to that blog post before. On the thread I think. It was discussed.

What I am shocked by is the following. She wrote that Wrecking Ball was "tasteful"!
It takes all sorts I suppose.

It makes me want to give up and cry. Then it makes so angry, actually enraged, that the comments of the punter quoted at the end can be justified by the author of the blog because she is confident that the prostitute "enjoyed that sort of sex" really and that the punter's langauge is "graphic" rather than mysogynistic because he also says that she "was attentive." How nice of him.

Abd as for "graphic"?? The punter says, "She fucks like an animal, got soaking wet from all the cunt juice and will take a bit of rough. The woman is practically perfect." I could spend a couple of paragraphs analysing that and bemoaning the fact that the punter/blog-poster/anyone else who thinks this is "gentlemanly" language is completely incapabe of any sort of critical awareness....but.....actually........ I do just want to cry.

Hi
Really disappointed to see so many negative comments about this project on here and the other thread that is not not receiving comments.

You may be interested in the fact there is to be an exhibition at The Glasgow Museum of Modern art based on the Invisible Man project.

I appreciate many women are horrified at the concept of prostitution and that many women do actually enjoy sex and even choose to work as sex workers.

There are some women who work in appalling conditions and who are treated badly or are forced into it by men. However there are plenty who choose to do this work and there is also a huge middle range of those who are forced and those

However, whatever side of the fence you sit on I think it's important to understand that this project is dehumanising to women, using blank faces, no names, a price tag and by cherry picking lines from reviews to suit the project is grossly unfair. I feel the people responsible for the project and the gallery are cashing in on the experiences of others and without any input from sex workers makes it all the more revolting and biased.

Regardless of your views about women who offer sexual services for money no right minded compassionate human could possibly be in favour of this project nor the display of it in a public gallery.

I urge you to sign the below petition to get this exhibition stopped. More information about the problem with this exhibition is given on the page.

Isn't it art? Should we censor art?

I'm going. And I'm taking my brother. He doesn't believe men do these things so I fully intend to let him see for himself.

TunipTheUnconquerable · 10/03/2014 21:42

It is a very worthwhile project and I strongly disagree that it is dehumanising. The dehumanisation comes from the punters who are quoted.

Report
Kitty3Mummy · 10/03/2014 21:45

I don't believe it is art. It's a campaign that runs closely with the current political discussions about criminalising the clients of sex workers, which is of course ludicrous and dangerous.

I think I might sort out tickets now. The only whorepobes on The Invisible Men Project are the men who write the reviews. The IMP brings the real beliefs of men who exploit prostituted women into the cold light of day. Leaving those beliefs in the dark merely allows the men who hold them to continue to believe they are right to hold them.

Sorry but the public need to know on a larger scale just what punters are like and how some men truly view women.

I hope it's shocking, I hope it disgusts, I hope it opens some minds

Why did you join Mumsnet to post this, Kitty3Mummy?
Do you sell sex yourself, or are you a punter?

Report
SabrinaMulhollandJjones · 10/03/2014 21:53

The blank faces, no names, price tags is reflecting on how the punters are treating women. It's very relevant.

Oh goodness, you are a misinformed bunch. I assume none of you actually know anything about sex work and only have a really dated view of it based on radical feminist lies and propaganda .

I really thought Mumsnet would be more enlightened!

Don't you realise sex workers sell their time and their services- they don't actually sell their body parts, or else there would be lots of limbless women walking around!

In reply to Turnip- Yes I did, I was looking for ways to promote the petition. I am neither a sex worker or punter, just someone involved in activism who actually knows sex workers and how the industry works. Clearly something most here do not.

MN is enlightened. I love FWR because the consensus is that women should not be bought and sold for sex. The IM project project demonstrates punter's attitudes to women.

Actually, I have no problem with the concept of prostitution but I have a major issue with the reality of it.

Nice attempt at a wind up but seriously, can't you just go and read your bro's posts on the Amnesty thread and give your fingers a rest ?
