IRN Bru ad - wtf?

Anyone seen this ad? Just on during BGT with Dc (6) watching and asking questions. Mum parading herself in front of salivating teenage boys. Anyone able to enlighten me as to what breasts have to do with a soft drink?

I saw it a few days ago. I could hardly believe what I was seeing. I think its meant to be "ironic" but I think its really distasteful. Anyone know who we should complain to. Is it the advertising standards authority

well i for one prefer it to the Fanny advert.

My 6yo thought it was fine to run around calling everyone Fanny because if it Anne considering we are Glasweigan it obviously just sounded like he was swearing at everyone!

If anyone wants to make a complaint to the advertising authority I Just filled in the on line form its really easy. I am so sick of all this sexist crap that is dressed up as irony.

I complained to the ASA about the fanny advert and they replied saying no-one apart from old ladies could possibly be offended by it.

I love all the IrnBru adverts, the fanny one was great, the recent one is funny as well.

I must admit I find the tits/teenage boy one funny. The tag line is "gets you through" so clearly the drink is getting the lad through seeing his mates ogle his mums tits. Which I think some teenage lads would be prone to do.

Although whether we can expect to see one where two teenage girls are ogling their friends Dad in his speedos remains to be seen.

Too OLd there is the advert for Cadburys Crispello which is pretty close to what you describe but minus the speedos.

Happyhev - that's terrible they said that to you!

I think the Irn Bru ads are just like that to be talked about, it's their strategy to appeal to young guys. They're not a family brand.

The adverts are obviously achieving their intended objective - to court controversy!! I don't see how they can be considered offensive or demeaning to either women or nationalities and are therefore outside the remit of the ASA. In a woman, an advertising executive and fully appreciate the (brilliant) underlying strategy behind the campaigns AND ITS WORKING. More controversy = more publicity, simplz! If you don't want to see this type of advertising, just IGNORE it (as will the ASA) and it will simply fail (to perform). Lets face it, men didn't complain over the diet coke adverts...

The mum and teenage boys ad is very offensive, the fanny one is just daft, in my humble opinion. I can't see either ad making me want to drink ironbru.

The diet coke ads don't make me want to drink diet coke either! I'm not sure who is influenced by these drink ads. I drink things I like the taste of. I am not sure why they want to cause controvosy, just curious has anyone actually drank a drink because of an advert? I mean I know it hard to tell but think they were influenced by it.

I will admit it, I once tried Campari because the ad looked so glamourous! The drink tasted horrible! I think about once every ten years I try Campari again to see if it is nice (its not, to me it is awfully bitter) and so Campari aren't getting rich from me.

I think it is right to compain if ads are offensive.

Sorry SignoraStronza realise in the cold light of day this looks like an attempt to de-rail the thread. Apologies. Please ignore. I just got carried away with advertising thoughts!
