Black swan

I just watched black swan for the first time so sorry if this has already come up somewhere but I found bits of it really unpleasant and made me bloody cross.

In one scene the choreographer forces a kiss on natalie portman, makes her open her mouth to kiss him back, gropes her breasts, gropes her crotch then when she begins to respond (probably because she knew she had no choice) he pushes her off and tells her that he seduced her.

No fuckwit, you sexually assaulted a subordinate (is that the right word?) colleague. That's only seduction if you believe rape is an enjoyable way to make love.

In Another scene Mila Kunis puts her hand in an asleep Nat Portman's pants and starts to touch her without trying to wake her. Natalie portman sleepily smiles and moves her hand.

WTF?

I see rape culture more and more now.

Just listened to the Katy Perry ET ft kanye west song. Kanye says:

Tell me what?s next, alien sex
I?ma disrobe you, than I?mma probe you
See I abducted you, so I tell ya what to do
I tell ya what to do, what to do, what to do

Am I a mad ranty woman or should this not be so normal that no one notices?

I noticed too, on both counts. It's disturbing that it's so acceptable.

Black Swan was a shit film imo and you are right many "mainstream" song lyrics are disturbing

I thought Black Swan was revolting too - not only for that but for perpetuating the virgin/whore complex. Really troubled by it all tbh. I just thought the female characters were total male constructions and couldn't connect with them at all.

I enjoyed Black Swan as I am a huge fan of ballet and loathed it as a feminist. I thought it was a crap film with some serious flaws. But was awestruck by Portman's dancing. Now we know it was mostly a body double, it has nothing to recommend it.

Funny to think it passes the Bechdel Test with flying colours.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I'm in deepest western Australia.

YY to passing bechdel but still being anti feminist and yy to male constructed characters. The scene where she is drugged (even though she knows about it) is vile. I would go bat shit bonkers if I found someone drugged my drink.

Soundsstupid but I hadntconsidered the Madonna whore aspect even though that's obviously such a large part of the movie.
