Just read a very interesting article in the guardian. The Soap Hollyoaks is doing a story line atm. with an alleged rape, and a jury is going to be picked from viewers to decide the plot outcome.

I think this could be very good and informative if handled properly. Personally, because I watch Hollyoaks a lot Blush I think they've not picked the best characters for this particular story line. The female character isn't very nice but the male one is so I reckon this will influence the jury's decision quite a bit.

I don't know about the real life jury aspect of this storyline it seems a little gimmicky however I do kind of think hollyoaks are handling this quite well and I hope they continue to do so.

I also feel the characters ate very well chosen yes gilly is lovely and sweet so you would think that there is no way he would ever do something like this however he has been filled with a lot of anger since Stephs death and hasn't really been himself.

And while jacqi wears short skirts and thigh length boots she's always been someone that has been straight talking and honest someone who could definatly take care of herself ( in the recent late night episode she was going to stab the Darren day's character with scissors rather than sleep with him) she is definatly someone who respects herself and I just can't see her lying either.

But then I suppose that is the point in real life it's not just dodgy looking men that rape and it's not just the delicate flower of a women that gets raped it really could happen to anyone.

The storyline has left me feeling uneasy as the audience we usually know who is telling the truth.

Not knowing makes this storyline seem all the more real.

This sounds interesting, i saw a bit the other night and my first thought was 'surely not gilly' but its good that stereotypes are being mixed up. The Lisa emmerdale storyline is good too.
