Reclaim the night

This is probably a daft question but I don't want to get there and find out that it's one I should have asked. I'm going to my first RTN at the end of this month with my mum and my sister. Am I right to assume that the fact it's a women only march won't mean that it excludes my 12 month old nephew?

seriously I am 90% certain that I have specifically read that it's ok, but even if I hadn't I would be confident it is.

I can't find anything specifically about this for RTN, but on Million Women Rise in March I know their rule was that babies and children were welcome. Like Alice I would be totally astonished if anyone did anything except smile at him - bringing up your little boys to appreciate RTN is great work :)

just checked, RTN Leeds definitely says children are welcome.

Boys up to the age of 12 are welcome to march in women only marches.

Although the London Pro-Feminist Men did run the creche at the conference, so they would probably look after him :)

Ha much as the idea of propping him up against the statue and using him as a publicity stunt entertains me I fear he will spend much of the night being carried (by me!) in his sling.

If boys up to 12 are welcome I may bring my 10 year son as well.

Why not? I would email to check but only so you don't have to worry about it. There would be a big to-do if anyone tried to chuck a kid off the march! :o

I've e-mailed them to ask. My son would love to come and unfortunately overheard me discussing it with my mum so is now very excited. I think he's more excited at the prospect of going to London than he is about any great feminist cause though. Ho hum

Had an e-mail back from the London feminists. Apparently male children up to the age of 14 are welcome. I am now considering taking both my sons!

Yeah I saw it! Sorry I started a thread in Feminism section ages ago, then Rachy started another one there, then I started one in AIBU to make it a bit more visible (not that many people have replied :() so it's a bit confusing.
