Loose Skin

Hi all,

I am significantly over weight 17st+ due to mega health problems (both mental and physical) but that's a whole thread on its own. Anyway, I have decided that enough is enough and I want to make a real change. Loosing weight for me is not the issue, I've got a good plan in place with help from a trainer and dr. What's bothering me is the worry of loose skin afterwards and I wondered if anyone had any experience, tips of how to lessen/ prevent this?

At the moment I have thought of the following (opinions grateful received)

  1. Dry body brush daily
  2. wash with castile soap (olive oil, no chemicals)
  3. Moisturise Aloe gel, coconut oil etc.
  4. Skin tightening oil blend - sweet almond, lemon, tea tree, rosemary
  5. abdominal binding
  6. Pilates
  7. small weights and cardio
  8. Lots of water and high quality multi vit.

    Thanks

I lost 4st after having DS1, the ones that worked for me were drinking lots of water, not losing too quickly, exercise and firming body lotion. I wasn't left with loose skin. Oh, and a bit of fake tan makes a difference too, not enough to look orange but just so I'm not so white that I almost look blue Grin

Rockchick, how old are you?

Marmite, what is abdominal binding? (off to google).

Love to know if anything works? I've lost 2 stone, 1 more to go and at 50 my skin is hanging, still better than being overweight but I don't want to lose the next stone without firming up?

Regular exercise and hydration will have that skin tightening in no time.

As an aside, try not to focus on the loose skin thing once you've lost the weight. In itself it can be a form of self sabotage ... It really doesn't matter - what matters in the here and now is tackling your weight and concentrating all efforts on that.

Thanks for all the replies! Not been about for a bit. Mae, it's wrapping elasticated cotton around the abdomen to create slight pressure to aid the muscles and skin in keeping tight to the body. Is quite popular with slebs post preg. now. Thanks for the encouragement Shelley and TheWorld Smile
