Just can't stop eating.

Since having my DC's (with the exception of 3 yrs ago when I managed to get back to a size 10 by starving myself and eating an average sized portion of dinner) I've ballooned.
Am too scared to weigh myself but am bursting out of a size 14/16, depending where I shop.
I know where I'm going wrong. Too much late night snacking, not enough exercise, boredom and too much booze.

I'm really unhappy with myself and my body, confidence is zero but so is motivation.
As soon as I try and cut back I'm obsessed with food and really irritable.
How do you get back on the wagon?

I also have zero motivation and self confidence. I know I need to move more and eat less, but I cant find the willpower to do it. It's making me very unhappy.

I'm considering going to my GP to ask for help but I don't know what help they could offer. DH is a naturally thin, outdoors type and he doesn't understand why I can't 'just do it'.

How did you find the motivation in the first place?

How long are you cutting back for? It may take a while to get past the 'obsession and irritability' phase.

For example on The South Beach Diet it is recommended that you cut out all sugars and processed foods for two weeks to get past the cravings.

Easier said than done of course. Those 2 weeks can be endless but I wonder if you are just cutting back for a day or two and so not getting past the bad bit.

Have you tried my fitness pal? You could just eat normally and log it.

It's how I started out and there was something powerful about seeing the reality of my snacking translating into calories. You may find this gives you a bit of motivation.

Once you've started losing and logging it sort of takes on momentum and stops being a daily battle with yourself.

I've lost 3 plus stone this way but still have 13 lb to go. Smile

Hi

I'm similar. Literally go through stages where I can't stop eating. I definetly have 'trigger' foods where when I start I can't stop. These are sweets, chocolates, bread, crisps a lot of processed stuff ect

When I try to avoid those (a meal at a time) I find it much easier to be less obsessed by food and easier to stick to.

Low carb really controls my cravings and helps balance my blood sugar.

It's hard I'm sure I am addicted to food! I put on a pound. Day if eat my way. It's hard but good luck

I too eat like a piglet. I was once 16 stone and lost 3.5 stone after DS caused a hiatus hernia. Fast forward 7 years and I'm 14 stone again :( My tummy is huge and nothing fits. I'm 5ft 9in and want to be 11st 10lb. WiiFitU says 10st 8lb - blah!
