How do I stop reaching for junk when I'm stressed?!

I'm really cross with myself, the kids have been playing up recently at bed time, dh is late back from work so I've had no dinner so I've demolished half a packet of cookies and the remaining chocolate biscuits, and tbh if I had more chocolate in I'd eat that too!

About 18 months ago I lost about a stone by calorie counting and have remained around that level until the last few months when I've gone berserk! I can't stop snacking on crisps, chocolate, biscuits. You name it if i'm the slightest bit bored, stressed, fed up etc my clothes now barely fit and I am just upset with myself for getting into this habit.

Help please!

Hi Awfuldaughter, yes it's shit. I do need some stuff in for the kids lunch boxes etc and sometimes I can go for weeks without it bothering me but I just can't seem to help it Sad

I'm going to try and wean myself off I think as the less I have the less I want. I might get dh to hide it all from me, although there isn't much left to hide now Blush

Thanks for replying

I have had to cut it all out completely. I can have all of it, or am happy with none. No bread, cakes, crisps , biscuits. For me it's easier than limiting. I had none in the house for a couple of weeks, now I can turn down chocolate etc if DS offers me some of his.

Having one biscuit does not satisfy a craving - it just makes me want another - so I don't have one. I don't have stuff in the house, it's not good for the dcs either, packed lunch treats are homemade and kept in the freezer and I never taste them whilst baking - ignorance is bliss and completely essential!

If you have to have sweet snacks in the house, buy boring stuff? We have fig rolls or plain digestives. Much harder to binge on those sort of things.

Rather than calorie counting look at the Paul Mckenna way of eating which helps with cravings too (the 'tapping' really stops the cravings) Grin It stops overeating too. Grin
