Hi, I have just downloaded this as an audible book and was a bit pissed off to find out that his first instruction was not to start listening to it til you have read the booklet (would have been a good idea to state this when selling me the sodding download!). So, can any of you lovely people give me a quick run down of what is in the booklet and whether I do actually need to buy it. naturally I have ignored the advice anyway and have listened to it twice already. I am quite susceptible to this kind of thing and have already noticed a dent in my appetite so here's hoping !!

No you don't need to read the book first . The main message is to:

Eat when you are truly hungry
Eat whatever you want (no diet mentality here)
Chew and savour the food thoroughly
Stop as soon as you are satisfied (not full)

Those are his rules for all his books.

No, you have inserted a hypnotic gastric band. That acts like a real one and makes your tummy feel smaller. But you still have to eat mindfully. The band is brilliant and definitely causes you to feel fuller. I can make you thin and his other diet books are about learning to let go of dieting and that you can actually eat anything you want to as long as you apply the golden rules. You end up only eating mere bites of things and then feel full.

Oooohhh sounds great.
Cheaper than a real one too.

Best listened to every day for the first couple of weeks and then a couple of days a week after that. It keeps it maintained that way.

Thanks. Has it worked for you Milly?

I use it Desperately. Yes it works. Eating this way has changed me from being someone who ate and binged and had disordered eating to someone who is no able to have any food in the house that I like and only really eat when I am fairly hungry and I stop as soon as Im satisfied. I only eat off small plates now too as I know my appetite is small. Are you trying to lose weight?

Yes. Not huge amounts, maybe 1.5 stone. I just don't want to diet, I don't want to count calories, avoid carbs etc....... I just want to et less and so this really appeals.

Well it is a learning curve at first as you have to trust in yourself that eventually your mind will accept that you can eat anything. I mean, I have cakes (really nice homemade ones) if I want them and chocolate but generally I just don't bother. I have a drawer full of chocolate and crisps and a fridge full of salads, cheeses, strawberries, cream, real salty welsh butter, jams etc but I never overeat them now. The only time I start to wobble if is I think about going on a diet so I make sure I stop myself before I even entertain the idea.
Do you know what....diets don't work. They just don't. You can lose weight but most people will regain it and then some.

Well I don't need to lose a lot but would like to lose a stone. I have lost a stone over the last year but more importantly, I don't gain.

Thanks again Milly. I am trying to look at this as a way of re educating myself about my eating habits to focus on the pleasure of eating good food in smaller quantities. I am definitely less hungry already but have just eaten a "normal" sized portion of (healthy!) dinner. What I am finding is that I have only wanted to eat twice a day and that even when I sat down to dinner this evening I wasn't desperately hungry - just joining the rest of the family at the table. Should I really be be feeling full after just a few mouthfuls?
