Juicing - why isn't it shifting?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have MS and having been taking steroids for a prolonged period of time. I gained four stone in that time and am desperate to lose it again, and get back to 9 stone. Due to MS, I can swim but not run anymore etc, some elliptical but not too long.

I started juicing two weeks ago and initially lost 7 pounds quickly, but then the last five days - nothing. I'm drinking tons of water and four juices a day.

I'm anti fads, but it was my neurologist who suggested adding a considerable amount of juice into my diet, and I must say I have so much more energy.

Any ideas of what I can do to get back to normal weight quickly?

Thanks so much!

You will have initially lost water not fat so your body is now catching up- I think it's normal, the fact you are still 7lbs down is great. I would expect you to lose more slowly going forwards now you have lost initial water weight

Juicing on top of normal meals, or replacing meals with juice? If it's on top of, then it's possibly because you're consuming a lot of calories - juice is full of sugar.

Not saying you should cut it out, if it's making you feel better, but maybe think about lower sugar juice (more veg, berries, less fruit) and keeping sugar down elsewhere in your diet.

I'm replacing all meals with juice. So today for instance, I've had juiced two beetroot and a passion fruit for breakfast; two apples and a lime for lunch, and I'll do carrots and cucumber for supper. Then about 4 litres of water on top.

I hope it's not too slow... have to get back to normal!

It doesn't sound enough calories to me. Your body will go into starvation mode and slow your metabolism down a lot.

That sounds like one hell of a lot of sugar.

You've had no food for two weeks? ShockShock

Did he suggest removing all other foods at the same time?

you don't need food alone to survive.....its the nutrition you need. and water

plenty do 28 day juicing and are better off for it. I find it interesting that a medical professional recommended juicing.....twice now this weekend ive heard of it happening.

Where's your fat and protein coming from?

I would have thought that going without any protein or fat for 2 weeks you could be setting yourself up to be pretty ill as your body needs those things.

From what I've read about juicing diets there's usually lots of green veg involved and a little protein and fat in there too. Lots of them only replace 2 meals with juice too. Try googling green smoothies - lots of info about them around.

we add avocado, yogurt and nuts and seeds to ours. also spirulina and coconut oil sometimes

just research it a bit further op....add a few more essentials and go a bit greener

Thank you for your input. I'l go greener and add some coconut oil here and there.

I do feel better rather than ill though. I saw the neurologist suggested two juices and one meal a day from now on.

Has anyone else successfully shifted weight swiftly post steroids?

While these fad diets and rapid weight loss diets work initially the minute you eat normally for a day or two, the weight will go back on and then some.
