when dd reached 2 and taking about my 'baby weight' became somewhat far fetched. I also had a stone to lose. I think it's easier to sort of you aren't 'that bad'. A few tweaks and you're looking fine.

I got to 12 and half stone and my clothes were too tight, because I wouldn't buy size 16s.
My boobs were enormous and my neck and back ached all day long.
I saw a photo of myself and I looked fat, not 'a few pounds overweight', like I'd been kidding myself with. Just fat.

My newly pregnant sister asked me when I first got morning sickness. Got old diary out to check, photo of me in underwear dropped out. I was about 16weeks pregnant with twins but looked really pregnant. Had also weighed myself during pregnancy. Realised I was the same weight now as I was in that photo at 16wks pregnant with twins!

Looking through holiday photos....picture of couple from behind, standing on the beach in swimsuits. Recognised DH straight away, then said out loud, "who is that fat woman you are talking to?" Sad

When I realised my size 14s were getting tight, when I had usually been a medium 12. I felt sluggish, tired and my skin looked bad from the rubbish I was eating. Much better now (low carber).

An episode of rikki lake inspired me as a teenager. I lost 30odd lbs that time.

Wanting to lose the baby weight after DC.

Breaking up and not wanting to be the fat girl on the pull.

Times where I've been happy and busy I've tended to lose a fair chunk of weight but I can't think of particular motivations.

Seeing photos is sometimes a wake up call.

Going to interviews/ new career too.

I started on Sunday. I have put on a stone since I had DS 18 months ago (was slim during pregnancy due to morning sickness and diabetes).

None of my summer clothes fit me and DP took a photo of me in a maxi dress on saturday and you can see the outline of my knickers digging into my hips Blush. It looked bloody awful.

It really gave me the kick up the arse I needed and I took long walks Sunday and yesterday and did day one of couch 2 5K last night. Just need to stick to it now.

Seeing all my mum's overweight friends (including herself) succumb to debilitating illnesses in their 60s. They'd been fine until hitting 60 then the effects of their weight hit them. I was a very fit and confident size 20 but I didn't want to end up like my mum's generation. I'm a fit and confident size 8 now.

Seeing a picture of me at a friends wedding. It was windy and my dress blew against me when the pictures were taken. I look pregnant and you can see the outline of my bridget jones type pants clearly. Mortifying. I thought "I can look better than this!" Exactly a year on im four dress sizes down and five stone lighter. Hasn't been easy though.

I did the classic 'oh a couple of my dresses have shrunk in the wash' (blush)
I realise now that they hadn't got shorter but my hips and bum had gotten bigger and wider.
I spent a lot of time in dresses and leggings so wasn't really wearing fitted clothing on my bottom half so it did sort of creep up on me.
Bought a new pair of size 18 jeans couldn't get them up past my thighs!!
2 stone 9lbs down and still another stone and a half to go I think but I feel so much better and have a lot more energy. Being so overweight was really tiring but I just didn't realise how much!

A few things: a couple of photos where I look pregnant; a friend on SW who was looking ever better; finding size 18 clothes a bit tight!

In fact, I am going to find and study the photos now to motivate myself further!

Photographs.

I saw photos of myself and HATED how I looked.

I now look at them when I want a KFC.

Walking down the high street with DH (who is a keen athlete and a few yrs younger than me!) Was outraged for a moment that some fat older woman appeared to be trying to put her arm around him. Then I recognised my handbag.... Blush
36 lbs lost since Jan, and back in size 12 jeans! Another stone to go but feeling great. I've also bought new clothes, fixed the mess that was my hair, got antibiotics for the rosacea and whitened my teeth. Ironically, DH nearly didn't recognise ME last week- we met in a restaurant, I was wearing a new dress and he did a proper double take!
