Half a stone by Halloween, anyone?!

MegBusset · 25/08/2013 16:06

I have been trying and failing to lose half a stone since Christmas, the failure is mainly due to my enduring of wine and chocolate but I just feel a bit out of my comfortable zone and would fit my clothes better if I managed to shift it!

I am 9st 6lb and would like to be 9st. I'm only 5ft 3in so really feel that extra half zone.

I am going to start using MFP every day (always used to but have had the summer off to enjoy ice creams and BBQs and chilled wine), once the DC are back at school I am going to start running again 2 or 3x a week (have not found time to over the hols esp as I have started working three days a week). I feel that half a stone two months ought to be really achievable but I really need to stick with it and not go "Oh fuckit" and fall off the wagon too often

Anyone with a similar amount to lose like to join me for mutual support?

I will - I have about 8lbs to lose.

I use MFP every day, but have hit a bit of a plateau.

Ive signed up for the MN low-carb bootcamp that starts in Sept, and hope to lose it quite quickly - but would be happy to have it gone by Halloween. :)

Ooh hello :) I'm intrigued by the low-carb bootcamp but think it would be too hard to fit in with our dietary requirements (DH and I are veggie, DS1 is allergic to eggs, nuts and pulses). Also, giving up pasta, sod that!

Well, I've started low carbing already, I didn't want to wait until bootcamp started.

So, Sunday-Friday, I've gone from 154.5lbs, to 148.1lbs! GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

My goal weight is 145 so I'm ver pleased!!

That's amazing! What kind of thing are you eating?

Yogurt, nuts and fruit for breakfast, or eggs and mushrooms, spring onion sausage or bacon.

Lunch - yesterday I had a BBQ chicken and mushroom melt. Cooked chicken, topped with BBQ sauce, fried mushrooms and cheese. Was amazing and I wasn't hungry for hours. I've had omelette or stuffed mushrooms.

In fact I haven't been hungry once this week.

Evening meals, we've made and eaten as a family - piri piri pork steaks, chicken kebabs, steak, chicken wings and jerk beef etc.

I've had one piece of 85% choc after lunch and tea if I've fancied it, as 'dessert'

And that's it - no urge to snack at all.

One evening I fancied toast, but just distracted myself and it hasn't happened again.

I'm impressed, I really am. Grin

OP I would love to join you with this. I have just posted tonight about the Paul McKenna hypno gastric band. Similar to you, I am 5,2 and currently 9 stone 5 pounds. I would like to get comfortably below 9 stone (say 8,12 ish) so I can feel a bit less sluggish and lose some flab.
I am re in stalling my hypnotic band tonight so hopefully that will help.
Right now I am struggling with lack of motivation to exercise and boredom in the evenings causing me to gorge on chocolate. I am hoping that when my DD goes back to school next week that will help to bring a little structure back to my eating habits.

Hiya :) Have you done the hypno band before, what does it entail and does it work?

I have not been too bad this week foodwise and have been for a couple of longish walks but don't expect to see any movement on the scales til I can get my running gear back on.

I'd like to do this.

I'm back to work on Monday so my eating habits should improve.
I've lost half a stone so far but seem to plateau so I need to make a rel effort to lose the next half a stone.

Can I join? I'm embarrassed because I've joined these sorts of threads before but never seem to perservere to the bitter end.
I'm 10st 6oz at 5'7'm,but would like to be just under 10st. Tbh, I've always felt my 'best' weight is 9st 4lb, but I've been losing and re-gaining the same three pounds for so long now it would be a major achievement to get to 10st.

Been doing mfp, but as I'm old (50) and had my gallbladder out recently, and I also have an evening wine-and ice cream habit, it's just not shifting.

I'm curious about the hypno gastric band - does it work?

Hi everyone :)

Well as expected, the scales are still at 9st 6 this morning - but I feel more 'in the zone' and already less bloated from having had fewer snacks & less booze this week.

My target for next Sunday is 9st 5lb, let's do this!

With you, although a stone would be nice. Am now running again as it's our turn to do the WCC run - in October, so that is good.

Have tried BIWI's low carbing and it doesn't work here. DD is a serious rower and has to carb load, and I'm shite at cooking low carb meals, I was just not having the carbs.

So yes, on board

Hiya, I'll join ya! I've gone from an 8 to a 12 in 18 months - perimenopause...(!) and wine, and crisps, really, and want to be able to get back into my jeans by xmas.....Going to do more walking i think....just need to get off me arse and actually do it. Have been a member of a gym in the past but resent spending £75 a month when I just need to eat less and move more! I have to say tho that once I hit 45 (48 now) my body kind of became a stranger to me....I know that sounds mad, but most days I feel like I'm walking through treacle....plus working full time, two kids, sole earner etc etc.....am also going self employed so will potentially have NO MONEY so need to be able to wear the clothes i have....!

My goal this week is to bring in a packed lunch every day - and NO CRISPS!!

Stupid iPhone

...so I am spending more time than before at a desk/in the car. When the kids go back to school I'll have two 'free' days so going to run then, or go to the gym if it's too cold/wet.

Tes, I'll join in. It would be great to lose half a stone ( or a stone) and I have to eat so little to do so, I really need some encouragement.

I signed up on the low carb thread but have given in to half a bagel for breakfast and had pasta for dinner last night. Carbs are cheap and convenient options here. I need to rethink what I use as staples and buy more meat.

ImATot your weight loss has inspired me!

maeve I know the walking through treacle feeling all too well. Your life sounds very much like mine.

Hi pistey Dd here is a serious rower, and she does need extra carbs sometimes too. She should eat more than she does and I am finding it's hard to lose weight while trying to feed up the skinny, fit teens!

Well done on doing the run. I've never done an official race/marathon. It sounds daunting, but I am now think I need to start thinking about it to get enough exercise.

I'm in! I'm weighing in at 11st 2lb & I'm 5ft 4, it's the heaviest I've ever been so I need to do something, I think I'll do well with a target of half a stone by Halloween.
I'm not sure on how I'm going to fit in exercise as I'm starting a new job etc etc but I'll try my best
