People who get offended when you stick to your diet/healthy eating

I'd really like to chat to people about how they deal with this.

I lost a couple of stone 2 years ago, put a stone on when I stopped smoking and then I lost it again. I'm focussing more on losing fat now, rather than weight iyswim. I've just got the stubborn bits of lard to go, then I'll be happy.

Does anyone else have a problem with people getting all huffy about you wanting to stick to a healthy diet? How do you deal with this without being rude, or do you even care what they think?

Why do people get like this anyway? You are supposed to support people when they make healthy choices, or so I thought.

Yes, I think supporting friends who are trying to make healthy choices is great, but as someone who has had people over for food only to be told that they are following some ridiculous faddy diet which will allow them to eat two entire cakes last week at their house but not touch anything I've made this week except some salad leaves with no dressing, I can tell you that I am going to be pissed off.

Just EAT LESS. You don't have to eat an entire cake. Or have 3 helpings of dinner. Just eat a normal portion and you'll be fine. Or don't come round for dinner because there is a difference between accomodating food preferences (eg vegetarian, don't like fish etc) and pandering to stupid faddy diets (which you have NOT MENTIONED beforehand).

Sorry, OP, I realise that this probably doesn't apply to you at all, but it certainly applies to some people I know and it drives me absolutely mad!

Do you think these people could be sabotaging your success because they are perhaps jealous?
A friend of mine is always telling me not to lose anymore weight even though I need to lose another few pounds but I suspect this is because she's falling off the wagon herself.

HopeForTheBest You had someone over on a diet who would ate two cakes and nothing else apart from salad? Were they proper big cakes? If they were, that's really faddy and doesn't sound healthy.

If I go round for a meal and someone is cooking pasta or has made a cake, I'll still eat it.

What irks me is when you vist someone and they serve up endless huge meals and big puddings. Then they get offended if you want a reasonably sized portion.

I don't know if it's an age thing, but as I get older, I just can't handle lots of rich food and sugary stuff like I could in my 20's. It makes me feel really crappy.

gaggiagirl Just about everyone I know keeps trying to feed me up. To put it in perspective. I am 5'3" and weigh 9 stone, so not even at the low end of my healthy BMI. I am desperately trying to get in shape for my hols as it's going to involve wearing a swimming costume. My goal is to be able to wear a bikini. It's not as though I starve myself either, I just go by recommended portion sizes. Most people's idea of portion sizes is completely skewed, then they moan about how they can't lose weight. Confused

Hope funnily enough my friend who is always insisting I done lose anymore weight left me a packet of chocolate biscuits in my desk drawer on Friday! It was really kind of her but could it be sabotage hmmmmm?
Your the same weight as me only I'm 3 inches shorter so you must be in darn good shape yes? But there is no harm in health eating and wanting to be bikini beautiful people should respect that.

My gym buddy has gone completely off-ish since I lost some weight. She's always going on about how great her weight loss club is where as I've been DIY dieting alone. I've known her since we met at the gym a few months ago and, if anything, in that time she's got bigger. I'm really not one to judge but I think she's finding it really hard that I've changed shape (not hugely!) and she hasn't. I'm quite disappointed in her but trying to be philosophical about it, after all she's not a long-standing friend. Sad though.
