HELP- post partum hair loss! Wedding hair style to minimise the loss?!!

(Have already posted in chat but thought I'd come here too for some wedding hand holding!)

Just that really!
Had a baby 3.5 months ago and due to be married abroad in Italy in 3 weeks time.

In the last week or so my hair has been falling out loads, I know this is normal post baby but I wish it was happening after the wedding and not before!

Really starting to panic, the hair & make up was going to be done by a relative bit that has fallen through and they are no longer able to attend.

Was thinking of an up-do but now I really don't care so long as I can make my hair look half decent and minimise the hair loss!

Any suggestions at all please? My hair is long, past my shoulders and normally medium thickness.
During pregnancy it was lovely and lusciously thick...that is all gone now :-(

Help- on a day when I should feel my best and so amazing, with my terrible hair and not quite being where I want to be weight wise, I really just want to run away and hide!

Congratulations on your new baby and forthcoming wedding first of all.

Regarding your hair, could you add some clip in extensions or a partial hair piece? I'm not sure what style your outfit is, but would it be possible to wear a little tiara or floral headband to cover the join?

There are loads of hair pieces in Boots and Superdrug. I would buy some and go a hairdressers and get it trimmed and be shown how to fix it in place.

Thank you for your reply!

Planning to wear a veil, didn't really want anything else in my hair.

Will look into hair pieces...ideally I just want to look as natural and unfussy as possible (tiaras are just not my thing!).

I just do not want to be totally self-conscious on the day, I know there is an element of that when you are the bride but now I feel it's been ramped up several times!

The thought of being photographed all day while trying to keep my tummy in and hide my thin hair patches...all making me feel rather sick!!

What about a bob just above your shoulders?

What is your veil like? If it is a headband type you can hide everything behind it or have a beautiful fringe and keep the rest hidden.

Go to your hairdresser, book enough time to try different styles and get them to show you have to put volume in. This may involve heated rollers, backcombing, drying your hair with your head upside down.

Can you get it coloured? Having it lightened plumps up the hair shaft and can help hair appear thicker. Having it blunt cut on the ends rather than feathered/layered could also help. Have loose waves? I think if its well conditioned and nicely styled, thin hair can still look good.

I'd definitely get yourself a good haircut before you go. The length will make it heavy (although if just below shoulders maybe it's not that long, it's nearly waist length then it's very long!) and maybe consider a sort of backcombed front bit to add sneaky volume.

Oh. Just seen the date of your OP! Hope it all went well and that you weren't too self conscious :)
