Does anyone know when the banns are meant to be read in your parish church if you are marrying in a different church?
Completely forgot about it and worried I've left it too late.....

It's done once a week for three weeks. It's good form to be there for at least one reading of the banns.

Thank you! I've been trying to call the reverend of my local church today but haven't been able to get through so panicking a bit. I only have 4 Sundays left before the wedding! Hopefully I can get through tomorrow fingers crossed.

They are read out in the three weeks preceding your wedding.

The vicar will say something like: I publish the banns of marriage between Robert Brown and Sandra Black of this parish and on the electoral roll of St John's, Newtown... This indicates to the congregation that they couple are marrying in the other church.

They can be read any time leading up to the wedding so long as it is done on 3 consecutive Sundays. We are getting married in the middle of August, but ours are getting read from the middle of June so quite some time before hand.

It has to be three Sundays (not necessarily consecutive) in the three months before the wedding. Link here.
