how did you guys 'quirk' up your wedding?

I have the venue sorted.......a lovely farm with big converted mills for accommodation and A restored barn for the ceremony and evening do. Food is going to be hog roast and tapas (fusion of the two families) all quite rusticy and relaxed. Both have huuuuge families so over 200 people for the food and ceremony. Little favours will be home grown multicoloured chilli plants in tiny buckets with luggage tag as place card. Basically just wondering what you guys did to quirk up your weddings? Little funky ideas/decorations/extras etc... Would love to create a few things like a photo booth and a big comfy bean bag corner for tired kiddies. Any ideas/experiences people?

What about a facepainter for the kids.

and the drunk adults

I always want to get my face painted but DP won't let me but if he's drunk and distracted I could getaway with it.

Please can I come? Grin

No ideas as such but what you've planned so far sounds wonderful!

We had a bit of a DIY svery small wedding and used parcel tags for nameplates, also had sticks of rock as favours (we live by the sea).

If budget allows a pop up photo booth would be great fun! I've been to one wedding where it was in a campervan! Maybe Google and see what you can find.

Fab idea! Will be totally over run with kids so will be a welcome distraction for them! If you reckon you can handle a massive very animated opinionated Spanish family combined with DPS very very Cornish lot ( who will no doubt get drunk and flash everyone-they are wearing kilts) then rock on up and have your face painted :-D

We did little organza bags with disposable cameras and a list of interesting things to take photos of for all the kids. Kept them happy pics were crap though

The first ones would be great as think we have about 50 kids as it stands! Aaaahhh. Love the idea of the second ones....although in think do would genuinely have a nervous breakdown if I spent £600 + on cameras Grin

We got helium balloons with cartoon characters to tie to the children's chairs, though that could be costly if there are 50! but kids love even ordinary balloons. What about colouring pads and crayons and ask children who are old enough to do a drawing of the day. You could even then scan and use as thank you cards.

I LOVE your favours idea!

Random idea I just had, might be a bit fiddly.

Buy and old whiteboard and cut a couple of holes in for faces. Provide some whiteboard markers and a camera.

Mum47 that's a really nice idea with the drawings and thank you cards! My own ds will be almost 4 at that point and the other kids are all between 3 and 9 so just right! Lovely personal touch!

And wads....oh my good could have so much fun with that! Dp and his man-child friends will have a field day!

( writes all these ideas down in very sad wedding book Grin

So....that made me chuckle. Oooh I can just see a big circus extravaganza googles big tops and elephants Grin would actually love some fire poi or something like that for the eve.

absentmindeddoodles could you possibly pm me where your venue is about, my cousin is looking for somewhere exactly as you described....barn accommodation etc, we are in the south east so if its close by could be a winner.....sorry for the high jack!

How about an ice cream van, they are cheap and kids love them!

I've ordered Wedding Libs for guests to fill out - could be somewhat hilarious!
