Thoughts needed re: page boy suits

I'm not sure what to go for for my two page boys (21 mo and 5 years). The wedding has an Edwardian feel to it. DP is in black tails with cream/gold waistcoat and cravat, bridesmaids are in off white long dresses. I don't have any flower girls.

Should page boys be in mini versions of DPs suit, or is that inappropriate as young boys should be in shorts? Should they have black suits to match DP, or cream suits to match bridesmaids??

I only had a single page boy for my wedding who was 3 at the time. He wore smart black trousers with similar shirt, waistcoat & cravat as the male wedding party.

id say the same as dp for ceremony then just take the jacket off later on

Is it not inappropriate for 20mo to be in long trousers?

I'm not keen on kids in suits full stop, much prefer a lovely shirt & trousers. That is so neutral it goes with anything.

I'm not keen on v small boys in stiff, formal suits either. My DH wore a classic morning suit to our wedding but my page boy wore a soft, sand coloured linen suit from monsoon with a linen collarless shirt underneath (so no tie). He was 5 and wore long trousers. For formal occasions in the summertime (eg christenings) my DS wears a similar collarless linen shirt over shorts and a straw hat if it's very hot.

Linen looks lovely I think.

Might the 5 year old want to look like his dad, though?

I saw some lovely waistcoat suits in next yesterday I don't really like children in suits, my 2 year old has had to wear one twice now and they were all polyester but these ones were very sweet and soft, only about £30 as well!

Small boys in the Edwardian era would wear sailor suits for formal occasions.

Sailor suits would look lovely and much nicer, imho, than formal suits given how young your pageboys are.

Try looking on Rocco Clothing they do some really good page boy outfits. my 2 year old boy who is page boy for my wedding is wearing something similar to my DP, a waistcoat, trousers and shirt with a cravet. Not buying a suit jacket though, as I don?t think he will keep it on! & I?m hoping it will be nice weather! Its entirely up to you what you dress him in though, its your day :)
